Womb Cancer

I was diagnosed with stage 1 womb cancer in october eventually i will need a hysterectomy but due to my high BMI of 83 i cant have it till i loose weight they put a coil in for now ....I feel so stressed and for the first 8 weeks lost weight quite well then christmas came and i cant seem to get back into the weight loss.

I am so tired sometimes and i asked the doctors they said they dont think that is anything to do with the cancer but i am totally and completely exhausted some days it take me all my time just to get out of bed Im trying to be strong and keep up a smile and everything as my family were quite upset when i first told them and ive found i know this sounds silly ...but if i try to make it look like im staying positive and that its not really effecting me it stops them from crying or getting upset.

Deep inside i feel like crying all the time I am 41 and ive had no children yet and to be quite honest all ive ever wanted in life is to have a family and settle down its just never quite been the right time or the right person but its makes this harder to cope with cos i know when i get to the weight they can operate that is going to be it the chances of ever having a child is gone.

I am not sure if its just me feeling like this or if other people have been through the same thing if not for the tiredness i would be pretty normal I have a check up on wednesday and there going to do another biopsy and check how things are going if i am totally honest im scared stiff cos i know i havent lost much if any weight since i saw them in october and i feel so guilty about everything.

  • Hello

I’m sorry that you had to find yourself here but like to offer you a warm welcome to the Online Community. I am also very sorry to hear about your Womb Cancer diagnosis.

A cancer diagnosis will bring many questions, lots of confusion and stress but I found being able to talk with other people who are on the same type of journey helped me a lot. The Online Community is organised into dedicated support groups and I would recommend you join our Womb (uterus) cancer forum. This is a good place to find ladies in a similar situation who will understand your fears and anxieties. Simply click on the link, read some of the posts and then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘New Thread’ or just join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'. It also helps to take a few moments to update your profile then others in the group will find out a bit about you.

I found the Macmillan Guide Understanding Endometrial (Womb) Cancer booklet was invaluable in my journey - you can download it here https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/stories-and-media/booklets/understanding-womb-endometrial-cancer.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear. It's free to call on 0808 808 00 00  8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look to see what is available by Clicking here .

There is also an Ask an Expert section, but you should allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers can be found on our Online Information and Support Section

Sending you welcoming hugs, Bxx Hugging

  • Hi I haven't seen you post on our forum (Womb (uterus) cancer forum yet so just wanted to check how you're doing.

I noticed you posted about the need to lose weight so thought I'd just mention I treated myself to a soup maker for Christmas and found it's a great aid to weight loss.

Living in a very rural area, I don't get to eat many takeaways/junk food. (Have a McDonalds once a year, it's a 25 mile round trip!) Not a huge fan of chocolate but love cakes, especially carrot cake. I've never gone for a healthy 5 a day, just like good home cooked food, especially steak pie! My BMI veers between 28 and 31 and we know on the womb cancer forum our cancer likes ladies with a bit of weight on them.

Anyway, I digress, bought a Tefal Easy soup maker and it's brilliant. Makes smooth soups, soup with chunks, smoothies, compotes and also has a easy clean programme. Basically I chuck in a selection of veg, (favourite soup is Broccolli and stilton) add a few spices, switch it on then take the dogs for a walk. 25 minutes later you've got a tasty, additive free, sugar free, tasty soup when you walk back in the door. Keeps it warm for 40 minutes.

Honestly it's the best investment I've ever made and I've noticed my weight is dropping off nicely, just thought I'd mention it.

Hugs to you, B xx Hugging
