My wife has been diagnosed with WM 5 days ago. Her blood count is 57. Is there a WM group here or do I stick with WMUK group who have been very helpful. My profile gives more information. I would particularly like carers who have been through these early stages to make contact because it's an emotional rollercoaster! The worst is not being able to visit.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, a Community that no one really plans to see themselves joining, and so sorry to hear about your wife’s WM diagnosis.

I have lived with another rare type of NHL so understand the challenges a rare blood cancer diagnosis like WM brings with lots of confusion, stress and many questions but talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helps a lot.

The Community is organised into support groups, but with over 60 types of lymphoma there is not an exact group for the very rare ’Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM) but we have number of folks with WM in our Non-Hodgkin lymphoma group where I hang out.

Follow the above link then choose ‘click to join' or ‘join’ when the page opens.

You can then introduce yourself, post questions or just  join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

You may also find our Family and friends group a great benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey.

Our Religion, spirituality and prayer group a good place to meet like minded people.

The one thing you get is the access to the Macmillan Support Services as it provides lots of information, support or just a listing ear.

Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available.

You can use other methods to contact our Support Services (LINK) and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

    All the very best.
