  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am always sorry to see folks finding us and so sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis and the ongoing challenges you are facing.

A cancer diagnosis brings a lot of confusion, stress and many many questions but I found talking with other people who are on the same type of journey helped me a lot.

The Community has various cancer specific support groups so can I first direct you to our Pancreatic cancer group as this is the place where you will connect with others walking the treatment journey both as patient or family.

Follow the link I've created above then choose ‘click to join' when the page opens.

You can then introduce yourself and post questions selecting '+New' or '+' (depending on your device) you can also join in with existing discussions by clicking on 'reply'.

You may also find our Carers only and Family and friends groups a great benefit as you will connect with others supporting family through their cancer journey.

The Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information and support.

This service is open every day 8am to 8pm and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here for more information.

You can also email them, use the online chat and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

    All the very best.

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your wife has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and an appointment to have a stent fitted has just been cancelled.

Your wife should have been assigned a cancer nurse specialist (CNS) who can help with any questions she might have. The nurse would be a good person to contact to see when her operation is going to take place and your wife can also take the opportunity to ask any further questions about her treatment and also tell the nurse about her weight loss.

As the community is divided up into groups, I'm going to suggest that you join the pancreatic cancer group, where you can ask questions and share experiences with others who have this type of cancer, and also the carers group where you can freely discuss your worries and concerns with others who are looking after someone with cancer.

To join just click on the links I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the pages that open. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting '+New' or '+' (again depending on the device you're using) and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your wife's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi

I've just had a look and you can definitely see what you've written in your profile.
