Hey all so after worrying about my father I law that had bowel cancer then had lung cancer I am now worried about my self after having a look on dr Google :(

abit about myself and why I’m worried, I had my 3rd daughter 12 weeks ago :) I’m 31 and don’t drink or smoke although I used to a good few years ago,

the last few weeks Iv been feeling dizzy, light headed, a feeling of a lump in my throat like I’m being strangled sensation, this doesn’t affect eating ect I can still eat and drink as normal, I went to the doctors they did bloods and showed my vit b12 was slightly low so was given tablets, from the birth il also struggling with back pain which I have been referred for ..

so my questions are.. is the lumpy throat symptoms and feeling of strangulation, dizziness, lightheaded and also a muzzy head any sign of throat or neck cancers?

I have a feeling this could also be stress/aniexyu related with the children now being off since March, having a baby, the worlds a complete different place now; then googling my symptoms and everything goes back to a cancer of some sort

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that you're worried that you might have some type of throat or neck cancer but you've done the right thing in going to see your GP.

As you've found, googling any symptoms will always bring up the worst-case scenario of cancer even though there can be many other reasons for you feeling as you do.

If these symptoms get worse, don't go away or the medication doesn't make any difference then do go back to see your GP. You could also keep a diary of your symptoms to present to your GP.

You might also like to take a look at this information (link) from Macmillan which, amongst other things, lists common symptoms of cancer and what to do if you notice any changes to your body.

Hopefully you'll be coming back here in a few weeks time to tell us everything is okay.

    Thank you..

im guessing if the doctors had any worry ect they would have sent me for further tests ect?

  • I think that they probably start with simple remedies before moving on to more involved tests , so do go back if these symptoms persist.

Hey.. so I spoke again with the doctors today and expressed my feeling ect and my vision has gone blurry,

they have told me they are putting it down to stress and try to chill a bit :)

  • That's good news that your doctor is confident that what you're feeling is stress related. Don't be afraid to go back though if things don't improve.
