Hi,

I have just been diagnosed with cancer of the womb, after having a hysterectomy I am currently waiting for a date to start my chemo treatment.  I am trying to put a brave face on for my family and friends but just feel like a rabbit caught in the headlights, really don't know which way to turn.  I feel so scared, the nights are the worst, all the thoughts just keep spinning round and round in my head.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us.

A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of stress, confusion and many questions but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot.

Can I direct you to this link to our very supportive Womb (uterus) cancer group as this will open up your concerns to a wider audience who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Just follow the link I have created then hit the ‘Join This Group’ tab just under the main group name, then go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab and set up your very own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group and ask your questions.

You may find our various Macmillan Support Line Services to be helpful - call them on 0808 808 00 00 This free service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link.

We also have our ‘Ask an Expert’. section where you can post questions to our mostly Volunteer Experts but please allow 2 working days to get a reply.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

Talking to people face to face can help a lot so check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area or a Maggie’s Centre as these folks are amazing.

When you feel up to it try putting some information in your profile. This really helps others when answering. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. Just click on YOUR username, select 'Edit Profile'. Put as much or as little in your profile and you can amend it at any time - you can see members profiles by hitting our forum names.

    All the very best.

    Hi Doris55,

I think all of us on here have been where you are right now & it is not a great place at all. I have just finished all of my treatment which was Surgery, Chemo, Pelvic Radiotherapy & Brachytherapy & it was a bit of a long journey. You have done great so far in having the Surgery, the Chemo for most people is the next step. You will be very well looked after I am sure & being scared is a natural part of the process, strangely enough I felt just like you & was so relieved on the morning of my first Chemo appointment I got there really early & somehow I knew that I was in the right place which was a great comfort. You do not always have to put on a Brave face although I know what it feels like to protect those around you, but this feels like a kind of "grief" which is a normal reaction.

Keep talking about any & everything that concerns you or the way you feel, each day will be slightly different but each day will also bring you closer to the end of any treatments you need to go through & you will start feeling so much better in time !

    Love & Hugs xx
