My mum had gallstones which turned into gall bladder cancer which had migrated to her liver and stomach. She's had half her liver and abit of her stomach removed and the gall bladder. She struggles to eat and has lost so much weight in such a short amount of time i think she's not got long left. She's having chemotherapy and her recent blood test results were good so maybe i'm wrong.

When she eats, she gets pain and discomfort once the food is being digested and has to burp etc and move around to feel better. She takes paracetamol because that was recommended as being easier on her liver. She got given some co-codamol but that gives her constipation which she thinks will make things worse and i tend to agree. She's had a scan that's shown up problems with her duadenum. I didn't quite catch the full details but i heard the word sepsis.

She's a clever woman and strong minded (to a point) so i trust her to make the best decisions but she mentioned stopping chemotherapy tonight and she's not getting any 'good days' only bad days of pain in her stomach.

I don't know what else can be done. She's had so many antibiotics and still not healed inside. She's not eating very well and losing weight and strength. She's 66 but looks 86. I'm 5'6'' and 9 stone and even i dwarf her.

I wish there was a way to heal her stomach and duadenum so she can eat and get strength. Perhaps then she will be fine.

  • Hi , it might be worth posting in "ask an expert" so that a dietitian can look at it. They may b able to suggest things that could help your mum re eating.

Please allow 2 working days for them to answer tho.

    .Best of luck,.Sue

  • Btw, you might want to join the Gall bladder and Family and friends groups n also ad a bit to your profile, so u don't need to keep repeating yourself n ppl know where you're coming from.

     Thanks
