Hi. I’m hoping someone might be able to help a bit. I’ve recently had a scan on a lump about an inch under my left breast. They couldn’t see the lump on a scan so referred for MRI. They said they couldn’t tell what it was but it’s attached to skin not ribs. Now been referred for biopsy/removal. Can’t get in for another 5 weeks by which time I’ll have been waiting about 9 weeks. I’m scared it’s something serious and not sure what to do. Anyone else had something similar happen to them?? Thanks

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear that you have been having investigations.

At times our bodies put us through a lot of stress, confusion and raise lots of questions, but take a step back from the whirlwind going on in your head and take a breath.

It’s never good to make wild guesses as from my long experience it can feed your stress and anxiety. I have had a good number of biopsies over the years during my 20 years with my Lymphoma but also had scans on other areas and not required further investigations....... it’s all very complicated but they will find out what’s up and deal with it.

Dealing with facts is the best way forward. Your team are being proactive (sometimes this is not the case) and you are getting an MRI and if they think there is more investigations to be done a biopsy will be the best way forward.

I have talked with lots of folks who have been in the same shoes as yourself and come back saying it was not cancer, so let’s look for this for you.
