Hi all

i am new to the group and still awaiting a full diagnosi. just got a call from the oncologist to go in tomorrow as they have seen something on the CT scan. This was at 1pm today, i am nearly at the bottom of my bottle of red wine. I have decided not to tell friends and family yet as I can not speak due to crying.

thanks for having me on here.

    Hi

I am so sorry to hear you are going through this difficult time. The waiting game from seeing something on a scan  to getting a diagnosis and then to starting treatment is really tough. I think everyone on this forum would agree and it’s no wonder you’re in bits.

I wonder though whether you might put down the wine glass and pick up the phone to talk to someone you trust? I’d strongly recommend you take a good friend or family member with you tomorrow as you will need someone to be an extra pair of eyes and ears. They say that typically patients take in about one tenth of what’s said at an appointment like this. You’ll also need someone to be with you afterwards.

Be brave. Talk to someone. You shouldn’t be alone.

  • Hi and a second welcome to the Community.

I totally agree with my friend  about having someone with you at this appointment as the information will come thick and fast and during this time you will be sitting with a whirlwind going on in your head and you will miss so much.

We have lots of groups where you will find some great support. Once you have more details come back to us and we will help get you connected in with folks.

You may also find our various Macmillan Support Line Services on 0808 808 00 00 to be helpful as you can talk to a friendly person that can help in lots of ways.
