Hi, I lost all my hair during chemo which although it was devastating I took control and had it shaved quickly. It had just started growing back when consultant booked me into radio therapy on my brain as there is a chance of secondary cancer this being a precaution. My hair has all fallen out again but this time round my head is itchy, sore to touch and hot. Can anyone recommend anything to put on it to relieve the symptoms.

Thank you

    Hi

oh that’s so hard. I’m going through second hair loss although both times it has been due to chemo and I’ve had five years between the losses. I feel for you.

I am a little hesitant to offer advice on creams and you should check with the radiology team or perhaps the chemo pharmacists as they know their stuff. But, with that caveat, I had some excellent advice on skin care from my chemo pharmacist when I had itchy skin reaction to drugs. She recommended a product called Udderly Smooth. I have found it to be excellent. I bought it from amazon

You could also try posting your question in our head and neck cancer group where I’m sure you’ll get excellent advice.

Good luck! I hope you can find some relief.

  • I had (electron) radiation to another part of my body that caused similar symptoms.  My doctor said it was like a sunburn and recommended a product called Aquafor.  It pretty much did the trick for me.  I would check with your doctor about it.
