My husband had a polyp removed from his colon in February and we attended his follow up appointment last Wednesday, where we were told that the polyp was cancerous. It was obviously a big shock (my husband is only 51) but I guess it didn't really sink in until we started receiving the letters over the weekend for another colonoscopy, blood test, CT scan and follow up appointment next Tuesday. I just hate this being in limbo and having to wait for the full picture but I guess that's normal for everyone?!
Hi and welcome to the online community although I'm very sorry you've had to find us.
It is a tremendous shock when you first have a cancer diagnosis and before you know it you're on a roller coaster of appointments, tests and scans.
Waiting for results is horrible but hopefully both you and your husband will feel more in control once you know what the treatment plan is.
I see that you have joined the bowel cancer group where I'm sure you'll benefit from the experience and support of others. Clicking on the link I've created will take you there if you're not sure how to get back. You can then respond to existing posts by clicking on 'reply' and start your own after selecting 'start a discussion'.

Hi
yup. You got it. Totally normal - but no less unpleasant for that. Waiting for tests and results after hearing the news that you or a loved one has cancer is the pits. Somehow things seem to settle once a there’s a treatment plan in place.
So no, you’re not alone and you’ve found your way to right place for meeting people who are in the same boat and where you can share how you’re feeling, what you’re going through and generally get some moral support.
This community is organised into groups. There’s an active bowel cancer group
https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/bowel-colon-rectum-cancer/
There are also groups for friends and family and lots more. You can explore the groups by clicking on the groups tab on the community website.
I hope the wait for next Tuesday is not too agonising. Kept busy and stay in the day is my best advice
xx
