Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Hi MamaH and a very warm welcome to you too.
Aw love, I read your profile and you've already been through the mill - it's so unfair it could be happening all over again but if you haven't done so already, it's best to get checked out. It's the only way to put your mind at ease and stop the anxiety. With small children to look after you really need rest and sleep, so book an appointment with your GP, even though I fully understand your trepidation at the thought. Sending you strength and hugs my lovely xxx
I understand hon, the thought of going through it again must be dreadful, but it's honestly best to get checked. The lumps may be harmless but you won't know until you do. It's so daunting but you can do it, as you've already proved it a few years ago.
Maybe take a little time out to weigh up the pros and cons, then make the best decision as only you can do that. In the meantime, you'll find lots of support here as some of our ladies are also on the breast cancer forum. My late mam had a mastectomy, so I know a little, albeit by proxy.
Big hugs sweetheart, you've got this xxx
Spotted this forum earlier on this evening so I thought I would ask a couple of questions.
I am on a chemo cycle that includes Cyclophosphamide. Every week I go through a pre chemo session where I am asked how I am feeling and if there is anything out of the ordinary happening. Well in fact there is and that concerns my falling asleep during the day and for hours on end. I am forever sleeping. The CNS makes a note of this but its left at that with no follow up or suggestion. Another strange occurrence is the excessive amount of food I am consuming, to the extent that I am eating myself out of house and home. To cap it all there is no weight gain whatsoever which I would like to happen and needs to happen. Again the CNS makes a note but does or says nothing about it.
Has anybody on this forum experienced a similar behavioural ?
Hi again allasada. I'm afraid I have no experience of chemo and its effects as my OH just had RT after his surgery. Dependant on your cancer type, other forums on the site will be more pertinent to your questions and concerns, as others there may have experienced the same. I don't know how to provide links, so a community champion would need to see your posts to give you them. You could always try to have a look round and might come across what you're looking for. I hope you do sweetheart, but I find it very odd your CNS isn't giving you any help. If you've got your oncologist's number, maybe a call to their secretary could get you some answers, or mentioning it to the team next time you have treatment. Good luck love, but come back here anytime xxx
Most of us here have, or had, cancer. In my case I'm my fella's carer, who has had cancer, but this thread is primarily for those who can't sleep or like to chat whatever the time of day. You could always start your own thread, citing your concerns about your chemo, and it will be picked up by others. That would probably be the best way forward to get the answers you're looking for sweetheart xxx
