Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Hi Gill
And as if by magic I appear! I was actually replying to a new member in the cervical group when your post popped up. (AML is Acute Myeloid Leukaemia by the way).
and welcome daley52 to this band of chatters-I hope you’ll find it a happy group of cheery friends who are all very kind and supportive.
Do you mind me asking what kind of stoma you have? As Gill H mentioned, I’m lucky enough to be a double bagger, so have a permanent colostomy and urostomy, so understand a lot of the challenges of living with stomas after nearly 6 years.
However, I don’t need to empty either bag during the night, so our experience differs in that respect. I appreciate things might be very different if you have an ileostomy though.
Hello too Lynne 592bf2f0 I don’t think we’ve chatted before but I know how quickly the chat moves here, so my apologies if I’ve missed you before.

Hi Sarah
You must have super powers to appear so quickly! But thank you for explaining about AML, which is what a neighbour's little lad had when he was very young. He's in his early 40s now, but I remember the night his dad came and told us like it was yesterday. These things aren't easily forgotten. Big hugs xxx
Hi Gill
I had just got back from the hairdresser so popped on here and saw a new post in the cervical group I could relate to, so I happened to be here to answer that! I’m not here 24/7….honest!
I’ve not got any experience of AML or any blood cancers, but I bet you have that moment your neighbour told you about his lad seared into your mind. How wonderful he’s a survivor! Are you and hubby doing ok today?
Sarah xx
We're fine thanks lass - a therapies appointment in the morning, a doctor's review next Tuesday and fingers tightly crossed that's it till after NY.
Oh, it was awful about the little lad, only two at the time and his dad in floods of tears in our front room. Not a nice memory but a very happy outcome thankfully. How you manage to be here, there and everywhere is a triumph - even fitting a visit to the hairdresser in as well! xxx
I’m glad to hear you’re both doing ok Gill, and hope that’s the only appointments you’ll have before going into the new year. It gets wearing having to go to so many different things.
I only get to the hairdresser a couple of times a year, but she had a cancellation tonight so was lucky today! My hair is very short, so looking like Worzel Gummidge is an awful look for me! She was shocked when she saw me at how out of control it was but her magic hands have done the trick tonight so I feel much better now. I don’t consider myself vain, but it was driving me crazy.
I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to have an ill child…it’s lovely to hear about those who have recovered.

Oh crikey Sarah, you've seen nowt like my rat's nest of so-called hair - it's horrible and thank god it's woolly hat season. I'll say no more, other than you must feel great to get yours sorted.
Well I'll have to do the evening care routine now, but I'll drop by later if others can't sleep and fancy a chat. If everyone's being sensible though, my trusty ghost stories will be at hand. Take care my lovely xxxx
Hope you had a great time maybe have a chat about it when you have rested sending hugs
