Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Morning

It’s a lot to go through, having two unrelated cancers so far apart. And yes, it’s so hard on partners. I hope things go smoothly for your daughter today-that’s an extra worry for you and your OH to deal with.

  • Thanks so much Sarah and     I am finding these threads fearsomely difficult to navigate so apologies for delay in replying.

I haven’t been on here much in recent years but it never ceases to amaze me how much others have been through and yet how much they have to give. Thank you both for your kindness.

Sarah, TPE is a barrel of laughs ain’t it! I’m coming up on 3 years in Feb. I’ve been pretty fortunate with the general success of the op but it did leave me with permanent foot drop (no feeling or articulation in right foot) and pretty brutal neuropathic pain, which of course doesn’t help with sleeping.

Anyway, thank you both for reaching out.
    Much love and best wishes,

    Tom

  • Morning Lesley Sun with face

It wasn't your Night Owl Owl post that sent me to sleep, but plain old tiredness and I slept in - it feels great!

No waffling involved at all and I found what you wrote both inspiring and uplifting; I even looked up brachytherapy so now I know what that entails too. When my OH's diagnosis was revealed Stage 4, I immediately assumed it was curtains and that was that. But, after over three months in hospital, major surgery and six weeks RT, his oncologist also told us "clear margins" and "curative" and he's now NED. We've still had problems to deal with, but they've all proved doable up to press, so we'll keep moving forward.

Lovely news that you enjoyed your grandchildren's Christmas shows and other 'normal' pastimes, as in and around all the hospital visits, life does indeed go on. Great advice from Sarah about what to expect at tomorrow's appointment, so good luck with that and maybe then you can settle down and look forward to Christmas.  Hugs and best wishes my lovely xxx

  • All best wishes for your daughter today my lovely Pray xxx
