Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Hi again briars
I’ve replied to your post in the radiotherapy group and now noticed you’ve been asking some questions here in the chat group. I’ll reply here to say that radiotherapy can cause reddening of the skin when is done externally, though I didn’t have any reddening or burning feeling on my skin at all.
I was given cream to put on my skin just in case that happened, but didn’t need it other to moisturise the area in general as my skin felt very dry. Any reddening should fade after treatment and not leave permanent marks.
It would be good to ask how many sessions of treatment would be required and this would be external radiotherapy given its on your face, not brachytherapy which is a form of internal radiation you wouldn’t need to be thinking about.

Morning Helen and everyone.
I had exactly the same as regards insurance after my first bout of cancer-I travelled to Bali just within the six months after a NED scan, and wasn’t covered for my cancer although it covered me for everything else. After the 6 months passed, everything was covered and this was confirmed by my insurance. I’ve had so many things health wise since then that I phone up every time I’m going to make a trip and update them, but I’ve never had an increase in premium so far!
The Christmas markets will be fabulous-I went to the one in Krakow a few years ago and it was magical. Plenty mulled wine to warm us up!

Thanks Eddie,
yes planning to ask so many questions and will at that to my list thanks.
what really worries me is the side effects everyone says you get very tired , Im 85 and in the last few months getting tired already ? I live alone so probably spend too much time thinking, but I used to be so active.
also worried about the effect of radiotherapy on other organs, all those stories you think you’ve heard.its so near my eye.
on the very vein side will my scar go red !
im trying to get hold of consultants secretary, have at last got her telephone number but of course voice mail, which of course I understand ,there’s so many of us.
i was promised a letter from him with all information, as my memory not good ..
chatting dose help ,but worried about boring people and so many are worse off and so young.
have a good day
Have you seen my reply to you briars ? Radiotherapy is very targeted to the specific area being treated and very precise to try to avoid damaging other healthy areas.

Hi Helen, sorry I've been out all day, and thanks for explaining my friend, your campervan does have its perks, and I'm guessing, a name as well, well we're in the midlands at the weekend, Bishops castle and Trentham gardens, and in early December, Bradford Upon Avon for the local Christmas markets. We did the Belgium markets many years ago, Brugge was a big favourite, as it was our 1st date, I'm sure you've been to them all my friend, but have a wonderful time. We are hoping to get to Greece soon, hopefully next week, I need to sort out my meds and treatments.

That sounds like your on top of everything my friend, and as I said earlier, and our Champion Sarah concurred, the accuracy of today's radiotherapy is amazing, and nobody can tell you what if any side effects you may get, my friend, you are right there are a lot of us with cancer, but please don't sit back and wait for letters, results ect, keep reminding them your waiting, and your not boring briars, so keep posting.
Eddie
Thanks Eddie, I’m ringing the secretary every other day , gather they usually work 5 days a week! If I get no joy this week going to ask my daughter to have a go.
enjoy your trips out ,I love a market , hoping to go to Bath Christmas market early December.
Evening Briars.
I hope you manage to go to Bath Christmas market my lovely. All the talk of them made me realise we've never been to one; I think the nearest to us would be Leeds but we'd need to go during the day. It's something to think about. Hugs to you xxx
