Hello,

Looking for someone who’s in a similar situation really.
I’m 39 with the BRCA1 gene, I had a double mastectomy 4 years ago which I don’t regret, but I feel now it’s time to have my ovaries Removed.

I’m umming and arring maiming because I don’t want to be kicked into menopause at 39!

Has anyone else my age had them removed?
My consultant has also suggested that just having the tubes removed is an option as sometimes cancers start there and I won’t go into menopause.

Hoping someone can offer some advice.

Thank you

Amy

I can totally see why you thought that way.
It fills me with hope knowing that you're not taking HRT and aren't suffering too badly, do you know if it could get worse or have you just been lucky?

  • My consultant thought if I was going to get it badly it would of been right at the beginning, so if it is just coping with hot flushes and night sweats every now then I’ll take it Grinning. Everyone is different.

  • I am nearly 43 and brca 1, only found this out in feb this yr, im having ovaries and tubes out and dmx with no recon, im choosing this as i dont want to be in and out of hospital
