A long sleep and some medical stuff

    (20 Nov, 2012)

…. so… too distraught to ask for the siren on the ambulance (dear Jim’ll Fix I’d like to ride in the back of an ambulance with the sirens on….preferably to a hospital you’ve no dodgy links to).

The nice ambulance men decided gas and air wasn’t suitable as I’d been vomiting and suggested morphine…. as i never knowingly say no to morphine in a legally acceptable format I said yes…. and the ride was long enough for a second yes that made...

    A Comedy of dietry errors

    (20 Nov, 2012)

My diet over the last few months has been ever changing… based on what I thought was wrong with me, best advice at the time, internet gleanings and pure whim.

The advice from the medical world has varied from the sublime (the latest which seems to be -anything you CAN eat but avoid roughage at al costs -and if thats eggs and chocolate so be it) to the ridiculous (“well baked potatoes are always healthy”).

But take all the good advice and last week I...

    Radio(2)therapy

    (20 Nov, 2012)

Well, I really craved a spinach and feta parcel and a piece of cake from the bakery in Stamford today and as Jane was doing her banking she tried her best… they’d sold out of spinachy parcels so I had spinach and ricotta pasta from M&S instead. Nothing like what I wanted…. but I ate it without complaint becuase it was well meant and I’m trying to be easy to look after.

After lunch watching the news I lay down on the sofa and suddenly realised...

    Skinnie Minnie and the springs

    (12 Nov, 2012)

In Janes room is an enormous super king size Macintosh inspired bed… I chose it and the individually pocketed sprung mattress when I was pregnant with the boy. (ok i sat my bulk down on the old pine double and it broke).

We bought an expensive mattress as that sort of thing is important and i’d had enough years of hand me down/out of skips/second hand mattresses.

It’s the worst buy I ever helped make…. its a purchase you have to live with for what? a decade...

    Code red to amber

    (Nov 11, 2012)

mentally I guess it’s just taken this week to make that shift…. I’ve still not heard from the oncology department (hopefully tomorrow or i’ll be chasing them) but this week my team of web monkeys have been busy.

When I say web monkeys I mean most everyone I know who cares about me and is computer literate…. having heard that for the first time ever in the history of the intermeweb I am avoiding google through sheer terror – they have been googling...

Bonfire well and truly pissed on

    (Nov 5, 2012)

    Where were we?

Oh yeah…. ct scan..colonoscopy…blah blah…. then back in to see the consultant who fast tracked me for all these delights..who couldn’t tell me anything as the results weren’t in.

Then (to cut  long story short cos i really can’t be arsed) an early morning phonecall  on Friday to see if i could come in and have a lapriscopywatsit (more cameras just stuck somewhere different to look at the outside of the lump).

    [incidentally...

    NHS, piss-up, brewery

    (October 19, 2012)

Thats probably a tad unfair… they do their best…are under funded…but…

I wonder what would have happened if I’d been the sort of person who just sits back, presumes professionals know what they are doing and let them get on with it?

To be very honest…I do err towards just letting people get on with things, even though I know professionals are just normal people…over worked..distracted etc etc… but this time it was important to poke the...

    Seeing the consultant

    (Oct 15, 2012)

I know you are all on the edge of your seats to know about my health….

(for those who aren’t there are other posts available on cheerful topics such as depression, educational standards and dementia).

Or of course there are other blogs available.

So… me and my pain and the lump just to the right of my belly button… the lump that hides from the medically trained and the pain that only occurs when I’m not in the presence of the aforementioned medically trained...

    Black Dog

    (undated)

Sometimes with a blog there’s nothing to write about…. sometimes too much. Other times you tend to just feel that yet another post on a similar theme is going one step too far.

But hey… who is this blog for… not you.

    Me.

Between this blog, my small terrier and his walking habits, my counsellor, some medication and the natural passing of time I’ve come out the other side of an overlong session with another larger blacker dog.

    I wouldn’t say...

    Sod's Law

    (Sept 28, 2012)

Never let it be said that I don’t learn from my mistakes… but let it be known that Sods Law overrides learning from your mistakes.

I’m still suffering the ‘pains formerly known as gall bladder pains’ plus other random abdominal various pains which may or not be related to the ‘pains formerly known as gall bladder pains’… yanno the ones that got worse and more insistant since that last GP told me it can’t be gall bladder have some Fybogel in case its IBS....
