It was only ever a rainbow. It wasn’t even a particularly beautiful rainbow and certainly not a lovely setting to see it in. On the way to a hospital appointment driving down the A21 towards Bromley in late winter, with suburbia spread out below a grey sky and just the promise of blossom on the roadside trees. But we still looked at it, me and my friend Louise, and said it was a good sign.
It put me in mind of other rainbows. Of the ones on Dartmoor the day we went to scatter my mother’s ashes...
My name is Lottie. I am a 26 year old sarcasm factory of joy and in April I was diagnosed (eventually) with lymphoma.
I had grudgingly accepted the ugly cyst I'd been growing on my arm for nearly 18 months was clearly not going anywhere and asked my GP to 'whop it off' which he duly did but it turned out not to be a cyst. It was actually pretty large and after 3 labs had stared at it for a few weeks my GP called me to suggest I pop in to see him, following this up with 'don't worry it's not cancer...
I have two kids and havent worked since i found out. I have had radio, and 2 lots of zoleronate. I take exemestane which i think is causing my legs to really ache. Dont know if i should work or not. only positive thoughts allowed in,
only positive thoughts in my head please!
gather those dark creeping visulizations
spread them on a blanket
buddle them up tight and tie with string over and over
then with my best rugby kick
boot them skyhigh to oblivion.....
only positive thoughts allowed in!
I am so very fortunate to be loved so dearly by my darling husband. We have so much to be thankful for. We are saying our slow goodbyes, reflecting on our lives together and gaining strength from one another on this our final togetherness. We talk much of love, our love, still "in" love after all these years.
My wonderful brave soldier. My comforter, my advisor.
How I will wake each day without you I do not know.
You are still hanging on in there, some hours better than others. But I...
New to the site following recent diagnosis of Breast Cancer and treatment with surgery, awaiting results
I was wondering if there was anyone out there newly diagnosed with Breast Cancer?
My blog today is a poem which I've been working on for some days (and it's still not finished - the ending is particularly weak). Now, I haven't written any poetry for nearly fifty years, and it's taking me a while to find my voice. I didn't trust myself to free verse - need a bit of structure but not too much - so I chose blank verse for this. It's about the amazing spring we've had and all the wonderful wild flowers, and also about being glad that I'm still here to see them....
I have just been reading the comment's from Cruton and Jenny. thank you lady's something I never expected. regarding the advert's. I feel that they are detrimental to people who are suffering from cancer. all I want to do Is forget the last seven month's and try to regain at least some of my life. I used to practice yoga and did so for five year's. I love to read. I never read anything while going through the treatment's. I now dread night time. not because I hardly sleep because of constantly needing...
