    Some Thoughts
I am coming to the end of my fourth cycle of CTD treatment. Each cycle lasts for three weeks, starting on a friday and finishing three weeks later on a Thursday when I see my consultant. The treatment is all self medicating and consists of me taking chemotherapy tablets every Friday. followed by a very well regimented and managed regime of dexemethasone (steroid) and Thalidomide. The Thalidomide I take on an evening and have to say at first I was very apprehensive about this drug. (being of a certain...

    Facing new challenges
I need to write this down to 'debrief'. Today I faced what felt like the hardest challenge I have every had. It was my cousin's funeral and the family who have alienated me through directing their anger wrongly at me were going to be there. Since the rift I am totally alone as a single mum, with no other family nearby. I knew I wanted to, had to, go to his funeral for him, and his family, and for myself as we have shared such comfort in both experiencing cancer at the same time - it meant so...

    CAN'T BE ARSED
Had my fifth of six Chemo's just over a week ago. The last three lots being Docetaxel, thankfully didn't feel as bad as the last time. However I felt really depressed, am I the only one who gets angry and annoyed when all you see and hear at the moment is Christmas. Quite frankly 'Can't be arsed - not interested !!' My sons being bullied at school, my husbands job isn't very safe and to top it all my neighbour reversed into our car, so now we have to sort all of that out. When will it all end ! ...

    Breast Reconstruction
Hello everyone I am home after my recent operation and feeling quite elated and inflated if not sore . Had my op on Monday 10th Nov and came home 3 days later, in quite a bit of pain and weak but am now well on the road to recovery. The morning of the op didnt start off too promising we were lined up in a corridor awaiting our turn to book in after which we were herded into a communal waiting room to await theatre. It was a mixture of patients old an young, male an female, with graffiti marked limbs...

    Remission and depression/cont'd
I received amazing support from my post about depression after remission. Most importantly I found that my feelings were 'normal' and shared by many of us who have experienced cancer and despite the 'no evidence of disease' still are left feeling anxious and at times very depressed. I have been applying lots of thought from the advice and experiences of everyone and have tried to explain my situation to my closest family, to explain why I have been unable to cope with their own grief and anxiety...

    CMF
Have just changed drugs this week from Epi to CMF and would like to hear from anyone else who is on this. I am as usual feeling cr..p but more emotional this week and definetly not looking forward to my next session on Tuesday. The positive in all this is that I am half way there and there is some light at the end of the tunnel. The downside is that I get these drugs twice in the month then a 3 week break. I felt so good last week and really on a high having got through a cylce without a hospital stay...

    Worried Wife
My husband is currently having chemo for secondary liver cancer. We have been told its terminal, how on earth do people cope with that diagnosis its like sitting on a time bomb waiting to go off. I am constantly looking at him to see if any changes are happening, what do we do, live life day by day or take a risk and really go for it with what time we have left. I know there are no real answers but some thoughts from anyone would be good.

    Mums having Surgery
Just got back from hospital with mum, she has decided she will go for the operation after all. We had quite a long talk with the Surgeon and she has explained everything to my mum, the risks of surgery and the complications which may arise after surgery and of course the consequencies if she decides not to have it, so mum has decided she will take her chances with surgery , although we felt once again the surgeon was trying to talk mum out of it, she goes into hospital on Wed 26th Nov, 08 and has...

Why do I feel so guilty.
I have been waiting to be well enough to have breast reconstruction following a double mastectomy early last year. The operation is planned for Monday and I am feeling really guilty about putting my lovely family through yet more worry even though they have encouraged me because I hate the way I look.I think part of the problem was I had no choice about cancer, surgery, chemo and radio and here I am about to put myself through the mill again purely for cosmetic purposes. I will then have to go do...
