    Ultrasound

    (Aug 22, 2012)

I went for my ultrasound scan today…. nothing…nada….

She had me lie on every side and the jelly was joy upon joy -warm (a technological advancement since I had pregnancy scans).

But no stones…. not a one to be seen.

Luckily I was booked to return to the health centre this afternoon to see my GP and get fresh stocks of the drugs doled out by Ipswich A&E…. my GP cast a professional eye over the scans and admitted nothing was to be seen out of the...

    Silver Lining

    (Aug 20, 2012)

the weight is still dropping off me on my enforced low fat diet….

I just spent a very happy half hour in the dressing room trying various things on that i’ve thrown to the back in disgust over the last year or so…. everything fits. In fact many things feel like someone elses clothes.

Confidently I advanced to step two…. flicking through for all the things I bought because they were lovely, AND cheap even though they didn’t fit me. Like a pale blue Kew...

    gall bladder dietry advice

    (August 19, 2012)

When I visited my doctor and had gall stones originally diagnosed about a month ago she suggested I’d be wise to eat a low fat diet.

    So I did.

Another flare up and the doctor in Ipswich A&E, whilst on holiday, tells me I need a zero fat diet…. at which point finding food becomes a nightmare… bread has fat in it…. brown rice for chrissake has fat in it, even baked potatoes which the doctor said were good – have fat in them.

    So I eat...

my mother, my gall bladder and a helpful Viking

    (August 7, 2012)

A swift overnight with my bear on Friday night on the way to pick my mother up… sitting in the car for three hours played havoc with my gall bladder and associated (hopefully associated)! pain and so I had a night of gentle and solicitous bear and a good and fear free sleep being held…

…and then the week begins… I have my elderly mother staying for a week. She comes over more regulary now under the cover of having her hair done over the road… mostly it...

    damn dem trans (fats)

    (July 26, 2012)

…and we’re off to a cracking start to the summer holidays.

(although it hardly feels like the boy has broken up as he’s back in the school building for playscheme most mornings for two weeks and music school in the afternoons).

But anyway… a cracking start… a re-occurance of my vomiting and stomach pains of a couple of weeks ago. I sensibly made an emergency doctors appointment for the afternoon… but didn’t quite make it that far as part way through...

    Attacks, one, two and three

    (July 10, 2012)

    How’s life?

    Full of attacks.

Let’s start with the one with the smallest cause..which had the most effect.

Friday night stomach bug… very nasty. I’m not often ill… but this was a doozy. I spent the night wandering porcelein potty in arms between bedroom and bathroom. (the potty was to be sick in…. i miss the cool warmth of a plastic familiar smelling sick bowl i can go to sleep hugging… in childhood it was yellowish.. i should buy a new comfort bowl)....

    Background

I've known I have a non-Hodgkins lymphoma for a couple of months... I guess ordinarily thats when I would have started writing a 'cancer blog' but luckily I've been writing a blog for the last three years (initiated by my partner deciding to gender re-assign and having MtoF surgery last year)...

The blog was just running out of steam writing about gender and the turmoil and headfuckery it brought to our lives when I started getting ill with suspected gall stones back in July 2012...

The start of the nightmare journey

    2012

I have always thought that Christmas updates had little use from our point of view.  Most years are similar, we work, we rest, we go on holiday (sometimes to exciting places), our health is sometimes a problem, but we get by.  Who wants to know about our side of things when we are all having similar experiences?

This year has been somewhat different to all the “normal” years of our life.  It all makes depressing reading so read no more if you do not want to hear about our year...

    The long Wait

I don't know how I am going to cope tonight.  When I had my other cancer things seemed to happen very quickly but not this time.  I was told on the 14 of November that I had a Liver lesion and I have still not been told what cancer it is.  They have mucked about with PET scans and eventually took a biopsy 10 days ago and although I realise it is Christmas and New Year nobody has been intouch not even the Macmillan Nurses.  I phoned today to ask if they had had any results, they have been told verbally...

    It's out part2
They all know, mum& dad were quietly worried, close friends cried &we sit in stunned silence, sometimes talking. Sometimes holding each other as one or other of us weeps, swinging between desperate worry &optimism & knowing how lucky we are to have each other.
