I posted 5 days ago following a gross hematuria about 10 days previously.
I presented my first gross hematuria in late January. For those of you that have been through the experience, it can be absolutely shocking! I'm still not sure what came first, the total surprise at looking down into a lavatory bowl and sighting and grossly exaggerating the view of the volume of blood 'filling it', or the immediate realisation that I could have a major health problem. For a chap like me, the glass is always...
Hi everyone
I'm 5 weeks post chemoradiation and starting to feel like the old me!
When is it best to start thinking about returning to work?
I no longer have the need for afternoon naps - result! Though I am restless of a night with worry and stress. Trying to remain positive but don't have scan until late October so the wait is long!
Thanks in advance
Cathy xx
So on Wednesday 23 August I take the short ride to my local hospital. The four hours I had to wait for surgery went reasonably quickly as I was visited by an HCA, the anaesthetist, an SHO and an ENT surgeon. It seemed like I was asked the same questions over and over about my general health and lifestyle, but at least I got a clearer idea of what was going to happen. The purpose of the surgery was to do a panendoscopy, take some biposies and possibly remove one or both of my tonsils.
The only minor...
I have instructions to clean my eye every morning and to put antibiotic ointment on my eyelid where the surgical wound is twice a day.
Because I've had an antibiotic resistant Superbug which can stay in the environment for a long time, I am trying to be really careful about hygiene when carrying out these tasks including hand hygiene. I am so pleased that the last test for the Superbug was clear of the infection. The infection has been 'recurrent' in the past, so I am also aware that it could...
Hi i have found a lump in my scrotum some time it can be painfull plus i keep feeling sick with acid reflux.i have my scan 5 days time can this be a sign of cancer ?please help
Today's Nutribullet ingredients.
I started my antibiotics for the urinary infection this morning. It's a three day course, today til Monday, so it shouldn't hold up my op. The nurse said that, as soon as she got the antibiotics sorted with the doctor, she would let the coordinator know so my op can be arranged. As it's four and a half hours they have to reshuffle shorter ops to make a window for mine. Meanwhile, we are slowly spring-cleaning and I'm about to start cooking some dishes for the...
It's hard to imagine that all of which follows took place within the space of two short weeks.
Friday afternoon, 18 August, I rocked up at my local hospital to see the ENT surgeon. He asked me about my symptoms, had a feel of my lump and stuck a camera up my nose to look at my throat. He had a junior doctor observing him, so it was quite reassuring when I heard him say "The X looks ok, the Y looks OK".
He told me there were a few possibilities, but that he'd know more following a CT...
So my GP tells me I will need to be referred to an ENT specialist, with "more or less urgency". Next day her secretary calls to say the hospital need to see me within two weeks, so I have to call her back if I haven't heard within a few days. I immediately Google "urgent referrals" and learn all about the two-week pathway for "suspected cancer". Blind panic ensues, until I see that only 10% of people referred under this regime will have cancer. So I calm myself down for a while, and wait patiently...
