  • Ramblings of a Bad Fairy
    (18) “Red devil” unleashed …..

…..and a new red bucket list toy!

Miniscule red devils are marauding through my veins doing battle as I type. Hopefully they’re tackling those nasty, sneaky cancer cells that have invaded the rather essential Bad Fairy liver. Only time will tell, so I’m doing my bit by cheerleading from the outside willing the little devils along and dropping hints that if they’d like to avoid some of the good Bad Fairy bits it’d be much appreciated!

    My marbles haven’t completely...

    People are so kind!

I cannot believe how many people have sent condolence cards, letters, flowers and food this week.  My neighbour made me a lovely Victoria sponge and a friend made me a spag bol to heat up for my dinner.  My eldest daughter has been feeding me too and yesterday I had decided to walk down to the village to have my hair cut, go to the solicitor to pick up Peter's will, order the flowers for the funeral next Thursday and go for an appointment with the bank.  I wanted to do this myself but my youngest...

MRI and PET scan, and I am not close enough to help

Mum is having an MRI this evening and a PET scan on Monday. She is nervous as suffers terribly from claustrophobia. Sadly the PET scan clashes with my Dad's 16th anniversary which makes it all the more difficult for Mum. I reassured her that they are keeping close tabs on her so that they can catch anything early, but that really doesn't help much. Her fear is there anyway. I wish I was closer and could hug her and go there with her. My brother is taking her but he gets quite matter of fact as the...

    Karen's Catch-Up #15 - stem cell transplant part 2

This is a major step forward for my brain so i'm not going to apologise for the length. Nope. I'm not...Hope it's useful for someone.

    February 12th-14th

So got to stay at home from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. I now hate the thought of going to hospital and see it as a major interruption to my life - I think the fact that I’ve had just one week of being home and feeling ok since xmas eve might have something to do with it. So we set off with me sulking like a four year old...

Why did I have to get the short straw?

I wasnt sure how to post this on the Melanoma forum so thoughi would try a Blog.  As you can see from my profile had a mole removed from my ankle two years ago, groin dissection etc.  I was all clear at my checkup in January and all was fine until I had a fit on Sunday.  Was rushed to  A and  E where they thought I had suffered a stroke. After endless tests I was discharged and told to go back to the Royal Marsden where they told me the cancer had spread to my brain and liver with lesions all over my body...
