Update after 6th and final R-CHOP

    Guess who's napping again . . . . Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

My poor Terry . . . still so fatigued after Hit #6.  A good FB friend of mine who has gone through chemo before suggested we go in for a blood check to see where he's at with his counts. She thought it sounded like he could use a little blood.  Not a bad idea, I suppose if that man I married wasn't convinced he's made out of steel.  He wants to go back to work on Monday.  Has to get up at 3:30 a.m., and work (with a little time off in between...

    The beginning of my journey.

The doctor gave me an examination and found a lump .... the other side of my boob to the itching! Fast forward to the breast clinic...........Mamogram..Hmm looks suspicious, lets have a biopsy, ........Jackpot you have breast cancer! Now a memember of a club I never for one minute thought I would ever be in.

So surgery next ......... all goes very well. lucky I had very big...

Am I taking too many painkillers?

I don’t normally remember my dreams.

Last night I was awake ( I thought) thinking all sorts when I heard a cat come up the stairs and into our room. It leapt up and sat on my head. I tried to shout out my husband’s name but try as I might nothing came out! My husband was woken by me screaming ‘cat’ very loudly in his ear - he was somewhat traumatised by this.I was apparently talking quite normally about hearing the cat coming up the stairs and sitting on me. He then reminded me that we don...

    So Amazing!

Ever wanted to kiss another man in front of your husband.   Well...….I could have well and truly snogged my consultant when he gave me the news, but luckily for him,  I just cried with joy.

He said...…. the top diagnostic radiologists have studied my test results, and they agree that, although there are abnormalities, which can only be expected from the Radiotherapy I had 11 years ago,  they are 95% certain that I am CANCER FREE.

I still have one more test to go, and endoscopy, but all...

  • Keep Smiling?
Packed, Mentally Ready and the Teeth Interrupted

Apologies for not writing in my blog...

The last month has been so full of appointments with so many different doctors and consultants and tests ready for my STC that there just never seemed to be time to just sit for two minutes and type out all the emotions I’m feeling.

The endless lists of things I needed to get together and conversations with friends and family that I didn’t want to have but they needed to know just in case.  No one wants to hear the ‘if I don’t make it’ words, that...

Something funny keeps you going.... doesn’t it?

I have never written a blog before.

    I don’t do social media.

I’ve not had cancer before my recent diagnosis.

So....according to eldest daughter who is seriously into blogging/writing/communicating with the world....now’s the time to start!

I have a sense of humour, sometimes wicked, sometimes just silly but to me laughter is an important part of life. And it’s the one thing I really don’t want to lose as part of this journey. Therefore I have decided to look for the things that...

  • Stomach Cancer - My journey
    030918 - Check up 2

Almost 9 months post surgery.  Where has the time gone?

Just completed my second follow-up with the oncologist. He did an ultrasound on my abdomen and all appears to be fine. He did say that he wanted me to have a PET scan in October.  Naturally the fear kicks in, so I asked if that was a normal part of the process. He explained that the ultrasound only covers the abdomen.  The CT scan I had in June covers from the thorax to the pelvis whereas the PET scan covers the whole body from head to toe. I guess...

  • My battle with triple negative breast cancer
    Triple negative journey. Bad week!

On Tuesday this week I had my 7th chemo treatment so only 5 more to go though I know the last 3 will be stronger. I must be prepared in case there are more side effects! I haven't written my blog for some weeks as each week is following the same pattern. The days on which I have the immunity boosting injections still tend to be the worst though nothing i can't cope with. They make me achy and even more tired than usual. I've got some really dry skin on my face and forehead so using E45 instead of...

  • My battle with triple negative breast cancer
    Immunity injections

I actually wrote this 2 weeks ago but forgot to post it. When I listen to other people's side effects and problems I think I'm doing quite well. I just hope the treatment is working! I've got very little hair left if that's anything to go by but am now quite used to wearing turbans and scarves. My weeks have now settled into a routine. The worst days are the ones when I have the immunity boosting injections. I feel achy and by 8 o'clock I'm really tired ready for bed but have trouble sleeping! Lying...

    Me Again

Sorry . . . but blogging like this helps me cope.

Today's topic is:  How important it is to stay on schedule with the anti-nausea meds right after chemo day.

Yesterday my poor Terry seemed to have a bout with what they call "chemo brain".  Seemed like he was having trouble finding words and staying focused, yesterday being the day after hit #6.  He's had a couple of times when he struggled for a day or two afterward; but yesterday was rough for him.  I could tell he was a little more...
