    Update/MerryChristmas/Happy New year

I started writing this quite a while ago as an update, then it was a Merry Christmas message, so Happy New Year.

There has been an awful lot going on but it’s no excuse. I’ve sat down in front of the laptop on many occasions but just haven’t had the motivation to write anything. For this I apologise.

    Well what’s happened.

Firstly, I must mention the birth of my granddaughter Eadie. I know I’m biased but he is an absolute angel. She always makes me smile. She is so beautiful...

    Christmas Catch-up

Figured this was the best place to put my thoughts, as they don't really fit into any of the other forums. Nothing exciting, just my thoughts etc on how my Christmas went.

So a week or two before Christmas I get the news that my fuzzy brothers fiancee will be joining us for Christmas. I've mentioned her before in my posts if you've read the rest, if not..... she needs to be the centre of attention in all things, and needs to be treated like a princess. If she isn't, then something happens to...

    Christmas 2018

Well, second Christmas post-treatment approaches...albeit just under 13 months since last radiotherapy session.

2019 will be interesting with a new job and a focus on new physical challenges. Ultra challenge 50k is the target. The dry mouth remains a pain in the @rse, but there will be a way to overcome that.

My rescued one-eyed kitten has become rather a great companion out here in the sandpit. Looking forward to getting her and me out of here and back to a vaguely normal existence in 2019.

    Merry...

  • Me and my mum - walking the journey together
New Information and trying to cope...

    Hi All!

It's been a while since I've updated and we've had quite a bit happen since then. Mum was in hospital as she was struggling to breathe again and it was discovered that she had blood clots on one of her lungs.

We've also been in touch with a local charity and hospice called St Giles who sent someone out to speak to mum and they seem really lovely and helpful and have organised a wheelchair for mum to help her get out and about. They also have a Lymphodeoma clinic and she was referred...

Not a good day, so time for a massive whinge.

I am so fed up with this business.  I want to scream, Please Help Me!.  But I might as well be in space, as no one seems to be hearing me.

So much pain today, bloated aching bowels. My whole chest and stomach feels like its being squeeze.  Just overwhelming pain. I had an oesophageal stent put in 2 weeks ago, which has worked wonders for being able to swallow.  But now I just cant eat because of the constant overwhelming pain.  My pain control (Oxycontin, Oxynorm and paracetamols) is not stopping the...

    November 2018 scan results.

As you know August scan results were a relief that Pembro was working again, but it’s somehow been a struggle and I seem to have run out of ummph, not celebrating I think as much as I should. I had a big birthday coming up in early November and with treatment every 3 weeks, and a scan also due in November I was wanting to plan in a big holiday in the October gap of treatments but didn’t dare plan it before my August results. I have annual travel insurance which has due for renewal in August which...

    20181210 - Update

So, last Monday I had another check up. The oncologist did an ultrasound on my abdomen and said he was happy with how everything looks. Got my 2nd B12 injection and blood tests. Hard to believe that it is a year already since I had surgery.

On Tuesday I submitted the stool test for the colorectal cancer screening. I wish I hadn't! My GP's secretary called me this morning to make an appointment. I explained that I was out of the country for a couple of months. The doctor wasn't working today so...

  • Keep Smiling?
    The Faded Sparkle

So many times I’ve logged on to write something on my blog or to ask a question on the sites and my mind goes mad with thoughts that I just cannot put into words. I read what other people are going through and I end up with all these emotions coarsing through me and I log off without writing a word.  My family and friends have always said I’m the sensitive one, I like to help people, I like to show them that life is not all bad ...making people smile, seeing that big grin spread across their...

Metastatic Melanoma, gosh it really messes with your head..

I’m writing this blog as a sort of way of clearing my head, and not wanting to put it in the discussions section, but forgive me as I’m not used to blog writing. I can’t say this is my first blog as back in April I was asked to contribute something for Mays Melanoma awareness month, and I think it’s easier if I just give the link to that blog.

Update:Bristol Royal Infirmary. Cancer nursing staff are a shambles.

Back home after having stent fitted.  I had to stay in hospital overnight for them get my pain under control.  I was on a specialist cancer ward, so you would think that they would know what the were doing. Thankfully the surgical and anaesthetic teams were brilliant and have done a very good job under testing conditions.  Unfortunately the nursing care was a total shambles.  I was left in agony all night, as the nursing staff were unable or unqualified to adjust my pain killers, even though it was obvious...
