I DON'T WANT TO PUT THE DAMPENERS ON ANYBODIES RECOVERY, BUT I HAVE NEVER BEEN THE SAME  SINCE I HAD MY BRAIN TUMOUR REMOVED IN DEC 2009. MY WHOLE PERSONALITY HAS CHANGED, I USED TO BE REALLY BUBBLEY NOT NOW,JUST A PAIN, I ALSO SUFFER FROM DEPRESSION. I WAS ALWAYS TIRED BEFORE THE OP BUT I COULD SLEEP FOR A WEEK IF I DID NOT HAVE 3 CATS TO LOOK AFTER.I MUST ADMIT I HAVE A HUBBY IN A MILLION,

an emotional day full of memories of Mum

Completed my 5K race for life it was very emotional full of memories of Mum being there cheering me on last year. Isn't it ironic that this year cancer had taken her from me and it was her name and pictureI had on my back.

I feel she was there in spirit though pushing me on

Missing her so much these days

    Three Years Forward

At about this time three years ago I was nervously trying to settle into my ' new home ' for the next two and a half weeks - a ward in Wythenshawe Hospital. My operation was planned for the following morning when the carcinoma was to be surgically removed from the floor of my mouth. It was a very strange feeling to be away from home, and whilst trying to be brave, a medic came with the usual forms and then proceeded to draw dots with what appeared to be a felt-tip pen across the front of my neck...

    in remission

got my scan and just got results - tumours have shrunk and they dont want to see me for 4 months unless symptoms return. i just burst into tears with relief. i went to the ward that treated me and let the nurses know and they were so happy for me too.

been told it will return at some point but hopefully that will be a long way off.

thanx to everyone on here that have been so supportive and i'll keep praying for you too.

    loolabelles dad 2

My dads being transferred to another hospital tomorrow for a pap (?) scan. He's then coming back to original hospital. The nurses are being wonderful. They're putting a bed in my dads room so my mum can stop tonight and tomorrow night.

He's had loads of visitors which is really helping him. I just wish this week was over, but then I don't in case he doesn't make it through whatever op they end up doing on Thursday.

I've got to sort out his benefits this week. That'll be fun...

  • I never expected that
    Chemo nearly finished

I am nearly half way through my final cycle of chemo. Taking oral capecitibine twice a day until Tuesday morning next week.

At the start of this cycle my blood counts were on the borderline (1.5 for neutrophils and 2.9 for WBC). This is the seventh of what was originally planned to be eight cycles. However, I've had delays along the way due to low blood counts so I have been reassured that I have had a good dose of chemo now and there is little evidence that any more will make any difference to...

SIX MONTHS OF CHEMOTHERAPY-THE MEANING OF LIFE STAYED THE SAME

I have now completed six sessions of chemotherapy and swallowed a lot of drugs.  There were no promises or predictions, so I am pleased to find that that the tumours have reduced in size, not quite a miracle but some improvement at least. Unfortunateley in the last few weeks since giving up the steroid tablets I have been very ill.  I was quite shocked to be refused any assistance from my Cancer Unit and had to endure six hours in a casualty department, before being admitted to that same hospital...
