    Peter scored a perfect 10hb today Wow the IV iron has really made a difference, he's had another infusion today he will continue weekly iv's until his iron stores are normal and holding.     Peter's iron stores were 16 and his hb is dropping again fortunately his team have secured funding for IV Iron, he had the first infusion of monofer on Tuesday.  it only took half an hour. He is having another 2 units of blood next week. and will continue to have iv iron until his stores are o.k

     It is so nice to feel a little control coming back into our lives, we seem to have been trying to run up a descending escalator for the past few weeks, leaving little time or energy for us.

    It seems that following my meltdown on Thursday meetings have been convened and plans put in place there is a real glimmer of light, a chance that we might drag Peter up and out of  hb free-fall.

    Peter had a brisk bleed from the picc line insertion site this morning, quite scary and very worrying as a 2 units transfusion was given yesterday so in and straight back out. His hb will be checked tomorrow morning.

    I was shocked at how unprepared local services were to deal with this and it took many phone calls by the Dr for guidance and me breaking down in tears before he got action.

    At least we are back home now…
