It seems that following my meltdown on Thursday meetings have been convened and plans put in place there is a real glimmer of light, a chance that we might drag Peter up and out of hb free-fall.
Yesterday was good, no it was lovely. our 10 yr old grandson spent the day with us he had a hospital appointment which I was taking him to ( our daughter does night duty ) Although he had just eaten a bowl of porridge, I asked him to make himself a sandwich while I did Granddad's picc dressing. the sandwich was to take out with us in case we got held up at the hospice or hospital and a hungry child is not a happy one. He produced a monster sandwich needing two sandwich boxes to pack it. he certainly wasn't going to be hungry
Picc site cleaned and dressed ( no further bleeding phew ) we went to the hospice for blood test a nurse was waiting and we were in and out in no time, we took Peter home and tucked him up with a blanket and a hottie for a sleep.
I set off for M's appointment he had severe congenital club feet successfully treated with the Ponseti method, he still sleeps in boots and bars at night and requires ongoing treatment but he has full mobility and loves sport more than his twin brother. Papa Ponseti was indeed a brilliant man
M and I returned home for a quiet afternoon he did homework Peter finished a jigsaw puzzle.
I received and made phone calls like mission control.
We have a plan.... :)
Yesterday's hb 9.1
Marsden requested it be monitored and transfusion given if it falls below 9
Local Hospice will take blood for hb on Sunday morning an on call Dr in a different hospice will check result and phone us.
Local hospital are booked to crossmatch and tranfuse on Monday if required
Marsden will recheck hb on Tuesday
Iron stores are depleted Marsden will give IV Iron on Tuesday.
This is a great relief and we are very grateful that local services and The Marsden are working together.
M ate all his sandwich a bag of crisps then scampi and chips and when I took him home first words whats for tea Mum?
Thank you all for your comments and words of encouragement on my previous enervative posts.
