BronB's Radiotherapy Journey - treatment to the Salivary Gland

  • Day 9 - 21 sessions remaining

I woke up at 4.45am today :( so the Nytol didn't really work for me last night. Before hitting the M1, I finished sewing Mariella's new top before me and mum popped into MK to visit the market .... Some lovely (cheap) fabric and ribbons etc purchased. After nodding off in the waiting room during the 20 min delay the treatment was fine. In terms of how I am feeling after 9 treatments ...... My inside cheek is…
  • Treatments 7 & 8 - 22 remaining

It seems I forgot to update the blog yesterday or the day before, but I'm here now.

Mum has arrived (day 7) and so she accompanied me to my appointments. At the Tuesday clinic, my consultant altered when he was seeing me - originally planned for Thursday and my husband was going to come with me, but the consultant altered this and instead hijacked the clinic meeting on Tuesday. • Treatment 6 - days lapsed 8 - 24 treatments remaining

To which the radiographer told me 'well done'. Well, I have never before in my life been…
  • Day 5 (6 and 7 - weekend) - 25 remaining

The treatment on Friday was fine.

I tried to keep my eyes open at some points and now understand that the whirring is when the machine is moving to a new position (over my face, or more the right of my head); the beeping is, I think, like a countdown to something (X-rays, or radiotherapy) starting; I don't really know what the humming is. Does this matter even?? Not at all ... it doesn't phase me in the slightest…

  • Day 4 - 26 remaining

The treatment today required my mask to be refitted 3 times (to address the tiny mm difference). Eventually it seems that repositioning my hair and squiggling up towards the too if my mask made the difference. Side effects - none really as yet. I had a two hour kip earlier this evening but this is not really out if the ordinary for me. I am seeing my consultant next Thursday about the possibility if doubling up…
