Hi Guys. a bit about me, 52, perimenopausal. I have been referred (8 th Dec) on the 2WW pathway for biopsy and hysteroscopy, following heavy( ish) bleeding for 4 weeks ( super + tampon every 2 hrs) and still going , a raised Ca125 and an endometrial lining of 41mm. Previous breast cancer and was taking tamoxifen for 8.5 years ( just took myself off ).
How quickly do people generally get contacted with an appointment date ? ( Im mid Essex nhs) its been a week already and with Christmas coming Im slightly ( well very actually) that I will now not be seen until the new year.
Hi Jax2261
Welcome to the Online Community and the Womb forum.
I am sorry to hear that you have had some bleeding and have a thickened endometrial lining.
I had to go to A+E because of a sudden heavy bleed and was seen there. I had to then come back to a day unit for further investigations the following day. That was when I was put on the 2ww pathway. I was then given a scan about 10 days later. The gynae oncology nurse phoned the next day and I was asked to go in for a biopsy the following am. I also had a CT the following week. From the first bleed to surgery was exactly 4 weeks. There is however variation between hospitals and areas.
I wonder if it might be worth giving your GP a call on Monday am if you do not hear anything by then and ask where abouts you are in the system- mine was able to chase things up for me via the internal NHS system.
How are you feeling with the bleeding? I was told by the gynae team that if any bleeding soaked through a pad or through to bedding or clothes within an hour to contact them and be seen. I was also told if I felt over tired/dizzy etc to contact them in case I had anaemia.
I hope that you can be seen soon and get the ball rolling.
If there is anything else you need, please do ask- there are lots of lovely ladies on here who will understand how you are feeling as we have all been there.
Jane
I had my ultrasounds really quickly in both cases and then a couple more weeks before biopsy and hysteroscopy each time…they are usually quite good at getting things moving…my delays were always in waiting for the biopsy results! Christmas could cause a bit of a delay I guess
Hi Jax2261, it will vary from area to area, but for me when I was referred on the 2 week pathway my GP told me that if I hadn’t heard within a week I should come back to her and let her know so she could chase it. In the event I was phoned within 2 days with an appointment for an ultrasound a week later and a provisional hysteroscopy appointment the following week. (My hospital prefers to book the hysteroscopy at the same time and then cancel if not needed, rather than make the patient wait again). So I’d definitely call Monday,
The bleeding is not soaking hourly, super plus tampon every 2-3 hours depending on activity. Its just been going on so long. My bloods were just in normal range 2 weeks ago but I am starting to feel tired/ lightheaded quite a bit now. Calculated I’ve probably lost around 1.5 litres since the bleeding started. Just so frustrating waiting for the call for the appointment as first GP appointment to bloods to ultrasound to referral was 4 days!
I will phone GP surgery on Monday and see if they can help. Strange I wasn’t freaked out by my breast cancer diagnosis but this time I’m really worried.
thanks for the replies and best wishes to you all.
