Hi everyone, I'm looking for anyone that has had a similar situation to mine and could offer me some kind of support if possible. I have been on here before as last year I got the all clear from stage 1A1 cervical cancer. However this time I'm being investigated for possible endometrial cancer so long story so please bear with me, for quite a few months I've been experiencing pain on the left side of my pelvic area during intercourse and also with my recent periods I have been experiencing more heavier bleeding with clots around the size of a 10p coin and I've also blead out onto clothing which is really not normal for me and my periods have gone from lasting 5 days to now 3 if that. Now I was thinking I was maybe perimenopausal but I'm 37 (38 this September) so it would be considered early. Anyway I went to my GP and she referred me for a scan and put me on the 2 week path way, so when the appointment arrived I went, the sonographer did the normal tummy scan then the internal scan. Anyway when she did the internal scan in a small area of my uterus were loads of red dots pulsating so I was like what on earth is that? Anyway she just said they were red blood cells and I didn't think anymore of it until I got a letter to have a urgent blood test and to go and see a consultant. So I went to these appointments and the consultant said the scan came up with a high level of red blood cells in my uterus but she said she was confident that it's nothing to worry about. Anyway 20/3/23 I went into hospital as a day case for a Hysteroscopy and a Endometrial biopsy which was traumatic enough and tbh I can't stop fretting about the results which I'm currently waiting for. So if anyone can help me with reassuring me I'd really appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read x
Hi Chrissie985
I'm not sure if my situation is the same as yours but there is the similarity in that I had lots of blood/fluid in my uterus which was picked up from my hysteroscopy and was drained off. Did they mention having to drain any fluid from you? I was 53 at the time so much older than you and had already gone through the menopause so any vaginal discomfort I had prior to diagnosis I put down to menopausal issues. Unfortunately I was confirmed as having endometrial cancer but I've had my surgery and come through the other side - although my recovery was a bit up and down I was fortunate in that I didn't need any radiotherapy or chemo.
The waiting for results is the worst part as you just don't know what you're dealing with and even when the appointment is confirmed you'll be sick with worry - the only advice I can give is too keep yourself busy or do anything that provides a distraction.
I think someone has already mentioned about finding out the MDT date as that may give you an idea on when you may hear something.
I wish you all the best and hope that your biopsy results will be good news.
Hiya Ejax,
Hope you are ok. In regards to any draining they've not actually mentioned anything to me. However my tummy has been swollen/bloated which seems to happen a lot with me. Like when I went for my TVS my belly was that big the other ladies who were actually pregnant in the waiting room must have thought I was expecting as you can see in my photo that I've attached. Obviously there is no baby in there but this just worrys me cause of the not knowing whats going on with my body and my periods all of a sudden becoming more heavier with unusually large clots. Ive had friends suggest that it could be possible endometriosis which would be the outcome I'd rather have as opposed to endometrial cancer cause when i found out i had the cervical cancer back end of 2021 it scared the life out of me especially with me having bad health anxeity. I think I'm just fearing the unknown as I hate hospitals as it is and I've got to admit that I'm not a mega fan of needles either.
Hi - It must be a very worrying time for you especially when you've already had to deal with a previous cancer diagnosis. I'm not sure what would be causing your bloating - although I had fluid drained from me it was because I had a stenosed cervix which is a common issue with women after the menopause as it closes up - although some obviously got though as it was unexpected bleeding that led me to getting a cancer diagnosis.
Did they just take biopsies from your womb or other area's too? i.e. ovaries / tubes etc? Hopefully your MDT will have met by now and you'll get to know the outcome of your results soon.
Hiya, yea it really is worrying cause I'm still waiting to find out but all they did was take a biopsy from my womb and that was it. I initially went in cause my periods all of a sudden went really heavy and painful then I had clots roughly the size of a 10 pence piece which isn't normal for my cycles at all cause normally my periods are relatively normal and never heavy and I've never had a clot around that size until I had those 3 cycles and I've also been experiencing pain during intercourse so as you can imagine I won't let the other half near me now as it's just too painful for me.
I'm just wondering whether the hospital gave you any contact information after your biopsy? if so it might be worth giving them a call to see if they can give you an update on whether the MDT has met or not yet - they might not give you the results over the phone but may be able to give you an idea of how much longer it's likely to be if they haven't looked at them yet.
