Hi everyone.
I'm new here and just wanted to say hello! I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy collection last week and was told at the time that they were concerned by what they saw (abnormal endometrium) and my biopsies had to be sent off urgently. I'm going to be waiting 2 or so weeks and I'm really scared. I'm only 35, so this all seems a shock and very overwhelming. The doctor started talking about possible major surgery already and it was all a bit much.
Does anyone have any tips for coping while waiting to hear results?
Thanks x
Hi and a warm welcome to our spot in the Online Community. Here you'll find a lovely group of supportive ladies who have all been exactly where you are now. A possibility of cancer diagnosis brings all sorts of stress and fears and if anyone can hold your hand and reassure you we will. We're all at the start, in the middle or the end of what can only be described as a roller-coaster ride. The ride no-one wants to get on.
What probably concerned the Gynae staff was a thickening of the endometrium which normally sets alarm bells ringing. Once the Biopsy results are back things will be a bit clearer. Then you'll probably be referred for CT & MRI scans.
The major surgery will be a hysterectomy but it's often by done keyhole (laparoscopic) and isn't nowhere as bad as it sounds and recovery is quick.
We all agree here and on all the other forums the worst part of this journey is the endless waiting, either for a test to be booked, the result. We've all been there so know what you're going through but you're not alone, we're here to help.
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. You can amend or update it at any time. If you’re not sure what to write, just click on my username.
If you want to ask any of us any questions please come back and do so. There's always someone around and we can offer a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold or listen to a rant, we’re here for you.
It might also be a good idea to download this booklet Understanding Womb (Endometrial) Cancer. I found it invaluable on my journey.
Click on the link I’ve created to find out more information covering diagnosis and treatments for Womb cancer.
