Hi,
I’m new to the group and have joined because I’m in such a bad state, I wanted to talk to people in similar situations.
I had a TVS on Tuesday and despite the consultant performing the test saying everything looked absolutely normal and there being ‘nothing sinister’ (her words) the registrar who looked at the scams said she wanted me to have a hysteroscopy and biopsy to rule out cancer. She said I’d get my biopsy date in about a month but I’m sure I heard her say ‘priority’ to the nurse when handing her the referral form. Now I’m in a complete state. I don’t know what to think and am up and down every 5 minutes. I can’t sleep and am crying constantly.
I heard that urgent referrals where cancer is suspected are sent down the 2 week wait pathway and I’m panicking that this is what the registrar meant by priority. Do you think the registrar would have said if she thought there was anything she wanted investigating urgently?
Sorry about the long message but this was such a bolt from the blue and I’m not coping with it very well.
Hi Saffv3 and a very warm welcome to our little corner of the Online Community. Here you'll find a lovely group of supportive ladies who have all been exactly where you are now. A possibility of cancer diagnosis brings all sorts of stress and fears and if anyone can hold your hand and reassure you we will. Here we're all at the start, in the middle or the end of what can only be described as a roller-coaster ride. The ride no-one wanted to get on.
If the registrar noticed any thickening of the womb that seems to ring some alarm bells hence the referral for a hysteroscopy and biopsy. Although your initial reaction is utter shock and disbelief it's better if there is anything sinister to set the wheels in motion to check it all out.
When you have a minute, it would be helpful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. (It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself.) To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can update it at any time and if you're not sure what you should write have a quick look at mine by clicking on my username.
In the meantime, come back here, fire off questions and we'll be happy to answer.

Hi @Saffv3 and welcome to our little corner of the site. Please don't worry about long texts or ranting and raving about your situation on here..it's what we are all here for and we have all been through it on our journeys and done it. You will get a lot of support from ladies young and old with a wide range of experiences and feel free to ask anything, from what to take into hospital, feelings of worries. No question is too stupid or personal . We are not medically trained so can't answer medical questions. These are best directed to the ask a nurse/expert on the Macmillan support section. The reply may take a couple of days as they are busy people but are an excellent source of information on everything including advice, benefits and support when you are feeling low. There's nothing wrong in having additional checks like hysteroscopy and biopsy especially if they are not sure. They may have seen a polyp which may be benign now but may turn cancerous at a future date. Radiologists who take the scan aren't as experienced and can't give true verdicts of your condition..they can only tell you what they see on screen with untrained eyes. That's why everything gets referred to a more senior level and the consultant has the final decision. Take ibuprofen and paracetamol if you are able to before the procedure. It's strAightforward but can be a little uncomfortable. In the meantime try not to worry even though a bombshell has been dropped. If you are over 60 you will automatically be put on the two week pathway so it's not a given that anything is wrong and you'll end up with cancer. Good luck now and keep us in touch with your journey and how you get on. God bless. Love lamb.xx
Dear Saffv3,
Welcome to our lovely group. I am sorry that you find yourself here. It can be shock to hear the word cancer especially when you had been told your TVS looked normal.
Your GP may get a letter from the hospital with result of TVS plus information on why they want to do further investigations.
I find the MacMillan helpline great for when I need to talk and have rung Samaritans out of hours as they are there 24/7.
Please keep us posted on how you are.
Sending you a virtual hug and best wishes.
Honey
Hi Saffv,
Sorry you find yourself here, but its best to get these things checked out. The consultant couldn't see anything wrong with me at first, And thought my slight bleed was vaginal thinning. Thank goodness he decided to do a biopsy. My cancer was found early and I only needed a hysterectomy.
Waiting for results is horrible, and I found the best plan was to keep busy. xxxx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
