Some positive news

After my most recent (third) hysteroscopy and biopsy it appears there are still signs of cancer but the good news is that the coil and my hard work in changing my lifestyle and diet are having a positive effect - better than medics had anticipated. Next hysteroscopy/biopsy in three/four months to see how it's goiing.

Also had my first ever (at 67) mammogram a few weeks go and, after a worrying recall, have been given the all clear in that area.

Feeling very positive and uplifted today and wishing the same for everyone else.

  • That's excellent news Cheryl. Well done on making the lifestyle changes that have made such a big difference. Delighted for you.

  • Hi Cheryl! That's brillaint news. I am in a similar position to you. Had the coil fitted over 18 months ago. I had stage 1 grade 1 cancer and my team weren't that hopeful at that early point.

However - in January this year after my third biopsy following insertion, I go the all-clear! No sign of cancer was found whatsoever - and now I am on annual monitoring! I may even be able to have the coil removed IF there is no sign of cancer after another year....

Clearly, I will have monitoring of some sort for some time to come but it's great to be back to normal for now.

Keep at it! Things can change....and well done.

  • That's great news Cheryl. Well done for making the diet and lifestyle changes- not an easy thing to do.

  • Fantastic news, and well done with your lifestyle changes. So pleased for you xx

  • That's brilliant. I'm so glad that I didn't rush into having the surgery tey offered straight away. Onwards and upwards.

  • Thank you. I'm now enjoying food that I would have refused to even tasted before.

  • Not everyone has surgery. Most do for sure but it's not a one-size-fits all situation.

I hope not to have it at all but you never know what the future holds. I take each stage a step at a time. Keep up the good work!

  • I was told it was the "Gold Standard" and, initially, was told it was happening and I was booked for pre surgery screening. Told my nurse that I wasn't sure it was the right option for me and then during a meeting with the surgeon I said that I'd like to wait to see if the coil and complete change of diet would have any effect. If I had just gone along with it I would have had everything out, womb, cervix, tubes and ovaries by late March, early April. As I feel absolutely fine and have no symptoms I didn't want to spoil that feeling of wellbeing with possible post op complications.

Did some research and discovered that they use the coil method on women who are unable to have the operation because of other problems and it seems to have a good success rate for grade 1 endometrioid cancer.

Never say never but, not at the moment.
