Having had my hysteroscopy this morning, I thought I would share my experience as you do read some horror stories. First of all the doctor went through the results of the ultrasound (in my case showed a slight thickening, but he didn't think there was anything to worry about).
He did a smear test as I was due one. Then onto the main business. I had no local anaesthetic. Just at the point, I thought ooh, not very nice the pain/ache lessened considerably and it was soon all over. He did a biopsy, but thought it was probably my blood thinners that caused the bleeding.
I was waiting for my lift and started to feel a bit hot, so went back in and sat down. I felt a bit light headed for about 20 minutes with slight cramping pains. Sat here an hour after the procedure, I don't feel anything.
I know everyone's different, but unless you really tense up, i found it quite bearable.
Glad yours went well Tanglewood. Mine was very similar really. I also had a smear first as I was very overdue! No local anaesthetic used for me either and it was only by chance that I had read on the internet a few days before about taking painkillers before I went so I had done that. I didn't get any written information as mine was arranged by phone the previous day I found it was all quite similar to period cramps but bearable. Afterwards a nurse took me and my daughter into a room and gave us tea and biscuits and we sat there for half an hour or so and she asked if I felt ok and then we went home.
xx
