Hi Ladies, I hope everyone is doing well. I got my Covid results today and they were negative so I’m off to hospital for surgery tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether it’s okay to take my regular co-codamol painkillers tomorrow morning as usual? I’m allowed a bit of toast at 7am and would be taking them then. I’ve tried contacting my CNS but got the answer machine. I’ve left a message in the hope she gets back to me before tomorrow morning. I’m just worried about my medication causing problems with whatever I need to have for surgery, or is this just the little beggar playing games with my head again and making me over cautious and worrying for nothing.  Thank you to everyone for all the help and support you have given me throughout this rollercoaster ride of a journey. Please take care of yourselves. I’ll pop back in once my surgery is done and dusted.

    Morning Barb,

Hope this finds you in good health. Like you said they’ll fix me up with anything I need and I’m betting it’ll be a darn sight more effective than anything I have.Grinning For some strange reason I’m having problems getting to grips with the fact that my surgery date is actually here. It’s crazy considering how much I’ve been willing it to hurry up and get here. Hubby says it’s just my contrary nature. SmileyThank you for your hugs and good wishes and I’ll catch up with you when I’m out of surgery.

    Hi Birdie 22,

Thank you for your good wishes. According to my paperwork I’m going to be in for 2 nights all being well. I’m really hoping that is the case as hubby dealing with my daughter for more than that doesn’t bear thinking about. I’ll be getting messages galore about how dad isn’t doing this or that right. Part of her learning disability is having to have everything done a certain way, she hates change. I’ve prepped her as best I can and hope it’s enough. Hey who knows maybe they’ll both learn something good out of it all.

Hi, I'm a recovery nurse and if you take your cocodamol make sure you tell the nurse admitting you with the time of taking it.  The thing about cocodanol is that it has 1g if paracetamol in and the most important person to tell is the anaesthetist who pops you of to sleep.  This is to ensure you dont get another 1g of Paracetamol in IV form in theatre.  The codeine in the cocodamol will be fine.  Personally I would take them and do the above.   I took my usual Tramadol.  Good luck.  I had my total hysterectomy yesterday and was up and about within 3 hours walking straight and had a wash.  I had a tiny bit of discomfort not even pain.

  • Good luck with surgery - hope it goes well. Tomorrow it will be in the past and that will be such a relief.
    xx

  • I'm absolutely fine thank you. Everything is now a distant memory thank goodness. Amazing how quickly the days pass and you'll be home in time for Christmas!

Hope your toast was tasty, dripping in butter and honey

Speak soon, big hugs, Barb Hugging

  • Hi Janet

Great to hear the op is over and you're already up and about! I was the same but had to stay in an extra night as the surgeon didn't want me making a long journey the next day.(2.5 hours). In the end I was glad as I had trapped wind and constipation - despite taking dulcoease before and ended up being in 3 nights. Nottingham shook once I was sorted haha.

    Big hugs, Barb xx

Thank you Barb. I'm relieved and the surgeon said I had a bit of a bleed vaginally but stemed it.  I also had a flat cyst filled with fluid behind my uterus which she has seen a couple of times, this was what they must of seen on scan as it was written free fluid in the pelvis.  She is still confident it is stage 1 but wouldn't commit to A or B but she did say that the lining was thin which is a good sign.  4-6 weeks for the results.  We also made an agreement that she would ring me if no further treatment was needed but to come in if there was.  Or I had the choice to go in to see her whatever the result. Dont think I could do the latter.  Oh goodness the burning when I wee. I'm pouring warm water on as I pee which helps.  I have atrophy which feels like theve took a cheese grater to it.  Its fast improving though.  Abdo pain is zero and without my womb lying on my bladder going longer between toilet trips. Pelvic floor exercises are easier too.
