Hi had vulva operation in March to be told I had cancer. Said margins were good, but would be best to remove groin lymph nodes on both side which happened in June. Got a clear which was great, ended with infection and drains didn't work properly. Wasn't great for about 3 weeks after operation. Its now September and still feeling tired, legs and groin sore if I do too much. Also very weepy at times. When should I feel like my old self again. Thanks for listening x

  • Hi Debs hope you’re doing well it’s dealing with it mentally I found difficult had many problems and infections and cellulitis have lymodema on the left side which happened around 3 months after the op have been dealing with that also fluid build up around stomach and pubic area you feel that more after a while once all feeling comes back if it ever does! I’ve also got nerve pain down left side where they were digging horrible experience in my case I seen my surgeon every 3 months now every 4 this year will be 2 year come June I had my op and still have the odd problem and infection as my left side wound was so badly infected it’s burst open etc but getting there cancer free so that’s a bonus x

  • Hi Grannym, I’m sorry to hear that you’re still having problems. The lymphoedema is my biggest worry as the left thigh has still got build up of fluid where my leg joins the groin in my scar site. It’s gone down a lot compared to how it was but not as much as my right side. I have a lot more fluid build up in my stomach too since my operation. The top of my thighs are still numb but slowly getting the feeling back as time goes by. I’ve lost over a stone in weight as I’ve not been able to eat anything for 6 weeks due to reaction to antibiotics but I’ve managed my first proper meal tonight….hopefully that will be ok!! You take care Deb
