Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone takes AHHC supplements, I have read a few articles on it now. There is talk of it clearing hpv in some people?
Hi Higgy
Personally I don’t take AHHC supplements. I eat a healthy diet, and the only supplement I take is Vitamin D because my blood tests showed I was deficient in this.
There have been some small trials which showed an improvement in the overall immune system response from those taking AHH supplements, but this is not clinical proof of success as much bigger trial participant numbers would be required for that. An improved immune system can help keep the virus dormant, but is not a cure for it.
Ultimately there is no cure for hpv and once you have it, the virus stays in your system. It can be dormant (where you would test negative for example on a smear test) or active where it may cause damage to cervical cells, though this does not happen for everyone. When a smear test is done, the first test is for active hpv, and if this is found, cells are taken for analysis to see if any treatment is needed. Any treatment removes the damaged cells, but doesn’t cure hpv, and it can become active again.
I would be wary of claims made on the internet, especially if the word ‘cure’ is used. These supplements tend to be expensive and are required long term on a daily basis so may be a big commitment financially.
I had an hpv driven cancer, but I am aware that nothing will ever cure the hpv. My treatment and surgeries were to deal with the damage the virus caused me, and for me it would be pointless taking supplements for this now having been through my cancer twice.
It’s a personal choice to take AHHC, and you may decide on the basis of your research that you would want to do this. I think it’s important to remember however that it’s in the interests of companies promoting AHHC to make money, and they can make us feel that it’s necessary to buy all sorts of things to help our immune system.
I rely on a very healthy and well balanced diet, with an emphasis on vegetables and salads, and little processed food, unhealthy fats or sugar. I am diabetic, so it makes sense for me to eat that way, and medics would recommend it as being the best way to help your immune system stay strong. I prefer to stick with what’s proven to work, rather than spend money on expensive supplements which may or may not do anything.
I understand how tempting it can be to look for solutions, especially when we’re worried, but please take care before committing to a long term expense which may or may not give you the results you hope for.
Sarah xx
