Hi Everyone

I'm new here ..

I have today been told that I have invasive triple negative breast cancer.. 16th April.

Who can say they were smokers before being diagnosed for TNBC? And if so, how did you cope with giving up, reduced smoking or vaping etc??? .... Either before, during or after treatment .... I'm curious, I have heard different things

Chemotherapy is to start in about 4 - 6 weeks.

I was first diagnosed with breast cancer on 11th March and have had biopsies, marker clip inserted into my breast.

I feel like everything is taking so long before treatment is to start.... Has anyone else felt like this?

I apparently have cancer cells in a lymph node too ...

I'm finding the waiting for treatment to start, is worrying.

  • Hi Basket

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.  As I'm not an smoker I can't answer your question but I noticed that you haven's had any answers yet so I thought I reply to you to welcome you to the community. I suggest that you also join the Breast Cancer forum as there are plenty of ladies on there that have been diagnosed with triple negative and it's a much busier forum than this one.  Here's the link to the breast cancer forum: (+) Breast cancer forum - Macmillan Online Community

Once treatment starts thing should start to improve for you.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.

    Best wishes

  • Hey, I’m not much help either but you aren’t on your own. I have started treatment and am still vaping unfortunately!

  • There is a prescription drug called zyban (buproprion) which is said to be a great help. It worked for me although I had tried everything else without success for about 15 years. I did not have cancer though.

  • I can relate to what you’re going through, and giving up smoking after a diagnosis is challenging! I used to smoke, too, and when I found out I had TNBC, it hit me hard. I knew I had to change, so I slowly cut back.

  • I actually stopped before chemo started and I hope never to start again.

I too was diagnosed with TNBC .... Last cycle of chemo is due on 17th October.

  • Hi Basket

I was diagnosed with TNBC on the 10th September.

Like you I was a smoker and stopped the day before I had a mammogram before I had my diagnosis and haven’t smoked since.

I must have know something wasn’t right and I needed to give up smoking .

Well done to us for doing it .

Hope you’re coping ok with things xx

  • Hi Lou Lou Claire...

I'm waiting for my last chemotherapy cycle due on 17th October... Surgery in November sometime ... I have TNBC stage 2.

    I was gobsmacked, when told!!

Do you know your treatment plan yet?

    Xx

  • Hi Basket

    You’re almost through  MuscleTwo hearts

How have found chemotherapy? I’m dreading that Cry.

Yes I was in total shock when I was told you never think it’s going to be you . I’m still trying to process it . Roller coaster of emotions Cry

No treatment plan yet . I have to have a second ultrasound and biopsy as the MRI showed something they want to check . But it’s still contained in my nipple area and not anywhere else ….you have to think of some positives somehow on this awful journey .

How are you doing ? Xx

  • Never been a smoker but now have stage 4 mTNBC with serious mets to lungs…oh the irony of it….if you tell people they automatically assume you’ve been puffing all your life.   TNBC such a terrible disease

  • Hi Ochno
