Hi Everyone, I was diagnosed with tnbc back in November last year and have just finished 12 weeks of Taxol chemotherapy. I had a 7mm tumour removed in December. This is my 2nd diagnosis as I was had my first bout of breast cancer back in 1999. I am concerned that Taxol isn't enough as have read so many have carboplatin with Taxol.  Are there any others who have had only, Taxol and nothing else??

  • Hi

I am sorry you have been diagnosed with TNBC and that it’s your second run in with breast cancer. Oncology departments use treatment protocols that are evidence based and set by NICE. I understand Carboplatin is only used for TNBC tumours larger than 2cm or where lymph nodes are involved. Taxanes like Paclitaxel are the backbone of modern treatment and are very effective. It’s good your cancer has been picked up when it’s very small.

  • Thanks for your response coddfish. My tumour was picked up by a ct scan I had for something else so consider myself lucky that it was found so early. Yes, my tumour was small and perhaps I am being ultra sensitive but just don't want it to come back ever!!
