Hello I'm new on here..
Finding it all so strange, I had graves disease as a teenager 18 yrs old then at the age of 23 I had no more grave disease so stopped all meds .. I'm now 52, so In June this lockdown I had terrible problems with all my lymph nodes in my throat... My liver had a very serious problem.. When asked if I'm a drinker as liver was so bad.. I spoke the absolute truth in saying only on my birthday that had been 5 months before I had one glass of wine and I am so careful with eating fat.. Or unhealthy food .. So from June all I thought I had was fatty liver as thyroid blood tests had been normal for yrs I had all the symptoms of hypothyroidism.. Tired, dry skin.. Thinning of my hair.. Low mood I really just felt so down and very sluggish... then on 10th Dec I had the scan and bi op I was then told on the 18th Dec I had papillary cancer with lymph node also probably cancer, As of lockdown my appointment for the scan and bi op Had been constantly put off and only telephone calls were made so finally I had op in Feb... Papillary cancer had gone to my lymph node in neck also .. They took out 24 lymph nodes only the one was with cancer I'm now going for radioactive iodine on the 19th March and I'm on this awful low iodine diet.. I'm struggling so much as most of what I must eat for the liver detox is completely opposite to the low iodine for thyroid ..please can anyone tell me if I can eat houmous if I make my own with out salt.. Also black eye beans...and what milk substitute is good.. Also is marmite good or not... I'm totally struggling the recipes are just not good for the fatty liver syndrome anyone done the diet and can give me some ideas please it would be so helpful
thank you suzza
Google lidlifecommunity, they have a really helpful breakdown of what salt products are okay or not. I recently did the LID (ended up being 3 weeks because my RAI got delayed a week at short notice)
Good luck with the treatment! I had RAI a couple of weeks ago and found it ok. The boredom and isolation is the worst part I found but drink lots of water and have a couple of showers and then it’ll be over quickly
