I had surgery on the 26th of November to remove the right side of my thyroid after a fna biopsy came back thy3a.
Got told I would have to wait two weeks for results but obviously because it's December no one is in till the new year.
I just really wanna know either way. My mum had thyroid cancer in her twenties and my uncle has graves disease. So my mind is racing.
Hi Flickxox and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet.
I wouldn't give up hope that you won't get your results before the New Year. My local hospital is only shut for consultations, etc on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
If you've been assigned a cancer nurse specialist (CNS), sometimes referred to as a keyworker or Macmillan nurse, why don't you give them a call to see if your results are back yet. If you don't have a CNS then speak to your consultant's secretary and she should be able to see if the results are back yet. Although she won't be allowed to tell you what they are, she can look to see if an appointments been made for you to receive them or if they're going to be posted to you.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Hi . Thank you for replying.
I did manage to get though to.one of the secretary's at my hospital. She said most staff are unfortunately on holiday till the 22nd but it looks like my results have gone off for a second opinion .
My follow up appointment isn't till January but she told me they will ring me beforehand if needed.
It's just so frustrating
I totally understand how frustrating it is waiting for results. I know it's easier said than done, but just try to put them out of your mind for now and enjoy the festivities.
Take care
How are you getting on? Did you get your results?
Hey.
Yes I got them on Monday. I got lucky according to the surgeon. I got the all clear but have follicular thyroid disease so may need another surgery in a few years time.
I was told my thyroid was very large. The thyroid itself on the right side they removed was 6.5 cm and the nodual of concern was 3.5cm hence why everyone is surprised I got lucky
