3 weeks ago I got the all clear after recovering from thyroid removal surgery after having a diagnosis of thyroid cancer. To keep this post short and sweet, I have been having sharp pains in my legs and I was wondering I’f this is something that I should mention to my consultant?
I know it sounds stupid but they are starting to concern me- it’s been happening for the past two weeks and I’m unsure what to do.
Thankyou for reading. ️

It might be a good idea to give your CNS a call for some reassurance or give your Consultant's secretary a call. You could also call a nurse in the Ask an expert section, link below.
It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.
Most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week and it's free to call on 0808 808 00 00 have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two working days for replies from our expert team.
Our Online Information and Support Section is a good place to find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

Hi
Good to hear you have had the all clear. Its often only after thyroid problems that we discover how important a job it performs. I have not heard of leg problems being a side effect but agree that a call to your CNS sounds like a good idea. Hopefully your pains ease and your concerns can be addressed.
Hi . Just had a thought - I had a Sub-Total Thyroidectomy in 2002 after developing Hyperthyroidism. I was just about to be discharged after my op when I felt very strange, a bit like going down swiftly in a lift. They had me hooked up to an ECG machine and that all turned out to be due to a calcium deficiency.
Hope you get answers after the blood test.

Could I ask, is this muscle or bone pain?
I had a lot of leg cramps - I sorted them out with Bananas. One a day gets rid of leg cramps for me
I also had bone ache at different times - but that was fixed with Vit D. Vit D deficiency is really common in people with no thyroid. Well worth asking for that to be tested too.
Good luck.
Best wishes
