Hi folks just new to the site and looking for any info on critical illness cover, I've had my op and right testical removed , and I've got a meeting with oncologist nurse next Thursday , my insurance company contacted me today and said I had a claim as long as cancer is invasive could anyone shed some light about this for me as I do not have a clue what they mean any info would be greatly appreciated thanks .

  • Hi Megan, I wanted to confirm if the criteria if the criteria is still the same? I was diagnosed with TC, had my surgery a few weeks ago and in recovery. My histology reported outlined I had a seminoma pt 1, I submitted a claim on my critical illness policy but am quiet anxious as waiting for it to be assessed. Could you share any thoughts or knowledge you have on this?

  • Hi Trev, just had a notification on this thread. I’m with L&G. Had stage 1. All I had was surgery no chemo. And I got paid out. Couldn’t believe it. Soon as you get your results send it to the insurance.

  • Hi, I had surgery and told to do 1 round of chemo. Unfortunately, I can't do the chemo due to underlying health conditions, do you know if stage 1 seminoma still satisfies the abi definition? Do you mind me asking was your claim submitted recently as note this thread is outstanding many years. Good luck in your recovery.

  • My claim was two years ago. And yes I couldn’t find much online recent either. But I suspect you’re covered! You’ve had surgery and lost a part of your body. You was also due to have chemo and can’t. I’m certain you’ll be covered. Who are you covered with?

  • Hi, thanks for your quick response. I was very anxious about this and was looking online to try and research this but I remain none the wiser. I have a critical illness policy with my employer and it is with Unum who are currently assessing the claim. I am trying to determine if pt1 seminoma still satisfies the ABI definition? If it does this would be the minimum requirements the critical illness policy would need to follow for a potential payout out but can't seem to locate this online. I am trying to educate myself if they refuse the claim for some reason.
