I just replied to someones post but maybe better to post separately?
my partner is unusually 65 and 3 days post radical orchidectomy. As a female and inundated with discussion and images images post mastectomy there seems to be very little for men.
am I alone in thinking this?
I was surprised and sad that he had awful images in his mind about what his scrotum would look like afterwards. It would have been helpful to have been told or even better shown images, as it’s all swollen now but what’s normal and what’s a haematoma?
any replies would be great thanks
Hi.
Sorry to hear your partner has joined our “ club”…
I didnt have any swelling in the scrotum after my op. The rest of it was very sore for 2-3 weeks. The worst part for me was the area between the scrotum and the Incision where they removed it. I called it the tunnel as I guess they must do some work to get it from scrotum to the cut!
I used bags of peas to ice the area , I think this helped. I needed my arms to get out of a chair for a couple of weeks and was told I should do this to not strain the stitches etc..
I am about 6 weeks post op and in my mid 50’s. I don’t think we heal as quick as the younger guys!
good luck..
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply with sensible advice. That’s reassuring and I’m glad that you’re doing ok and progressing well. My partner now tells me his scrotum has gone down ♀️
..so that’s a relief. Take care of yourself and we both truly wish you well for the future
