Found a lump, had ultrasound - they didn't confirm anything, still worrying a lot...what else could it be?

Hi all,

I found a lump which does seem to be on my 'tubes' rather than the testicle itself, they do seem to be clearly In different places. I was checked once by my GP who just examined the testicles, he said I was okay. I still worried about it all and went back after about a month, in this time I had started to experience some discomfort which would come and go, it was only very uncomfortable for about a 5 day period, and since then it can be felt one day and then disappear for the next two. This time the GP didn't examine me, but I got the impression he thought I was wasting his time but said he would book a routine ultrasound for me which is 4-6 weeks rather than an urgent 2 week referral.

I just had my ultrasound this morning in which the technician said nothing but once everything was done he said he would send a report to my GP in about a week. I asked him if he found anything and he said 'no, nothing to worry about, I asked him again because he was quite quiet/s and he said - 'no, nothing to worry about, the GP will explain'. Now I'm not sure what to think, mainly because he didn't sound convincing at all. I understand they're not supposed to say anything really, but I would assume he wouldn't say 'no, nothing to worry about'.

I had a cyst confirmed by US about 12-14 years ago, so perhaps it's just this and its grown a bit? I've read that if a cyst grows it can push on other structures in that area to cause discomfort. Obviously, I shouldn't do my own research etc but I also thought my lump could either be Epididymitis or Variococele. Because of the position of the lump, I think I found these other two can make sense.

I guess I just want to see if anyone out there has had the same experience? Also, what experiences did people f with their ultrasound?

It's a Friday now, had my ultrasound this morning, so I'm assuming whether it's bad or good I won't know till next week now. Hope to hear back about similar experiences etc.

  • Hi Mk! Sorry to hear what you are going through. I’m no doctor but I’m pretty certain testicular cancer does not present with a lump in the tubes. I would imagine cancer is not your concern…..

Thanks for your reply Goldenball1! Yes, that's true, so potentially it's not cancer...sometimes I do wonder if I've missed something though like the lump was distracting me from the testicle itself. I'm a big worrier so it's not helped, and my best mate went had testicular cancer earlier this year, which is why I check myself more often. I think my main thing is I was confused about what the technician said, more so because he didn't seem overly confident in saying 'no, nothing to worry about ...but I appreciate it's not his area to actually comment on these things...
