Hi fellas, I hope you are well.
I come looking for some advice, I had a unilateral orchiectomy nine weeks ago, and now my remaining testicle is hurting, it feels swollen and hurts when I put on a pair of jeans or trousers.
Is this normal, has anyone else experienced their remaining testicle hurt after orchiectomy, does the remaining testicle ever settle down?
HI Chip,
I'm like two months in after having an orchiectomy and in the last 2 weeks or so have noticed my remaining testicle being not painful as such but there is a little ache or pain there. I am going to raise it with the specialist nurse after my CT scan next week so will let you know what they say then.
Hey when my first one removed the other one was achy for a couple of weeks, nothing to really worry about at this stage, I thought when they removed mine they had a game of pool during the operation, soak in a nice warm bath and wear light pants a couple of paracetamols may help, but after say 3rd or 4th week if its not any easier just pop to your gp or oncologist to get it checked out, best be on the safe side, mine went after about 3 weeks, hope this helps and stay safe
Hi Mascotty, hopefully just being paranoid here. I had a testicle removed 2 weeks ago. Since then my remaining testicle has been aching a bit on and off. Similar situation to yourself. Just wondering if yours resolved in time? I mentioned it to the surgeon who thought it might just be anxiety about the remaining nut! Thanks for any input.
Hi all. I spoke with my GP and he referred me for an ultrasound. Mine was found to have calcium deposits on the testicle (microlithiasis). Need to speak with the consultant next week. Not very well understood but reports of increased risk of another tumour so may need regular yearly ultrasounds to keep an eye on but will let you guys know next week. In other cases could mostly be scar tissue or slight nerve damage from surgery but I would suggest to get speak with the docs and go from there.
Thanks Fuzzy, I've got quite extensive micrlothiasis in my remaining testicle also and whilst it is poorly understood, I believe there is a correlation with fertility and increased risk of TC (though there is conflicting evidence on this). Be interested to hear what your consultant has to say. The urologist here (I'm a Brit living in Canada) thought it would just involve regular self checks along with whatever monitoring I go onto.
