Hi, Has anyone here had a simple orchiectomy?
I had this done 5 weeks ago and I wondered what happens to the cord.
I can feel the cord and stump in the scrotum which is quite thick and hard, does this die off and shrink back?
Hi Chip
I think most people on this forum will have had radical rather than simple orchidectomy, and they are quite different procedures. After my radical orchidectomy I can't feel anything like you describe, but I think they do remove more of the plumbing in the radical procedure.
Hopefully somebody here might have relevant experience of your operation.
Best wishes
Thank you for your reply Teahupo.
I wish I had a radical orchidectomy, I'm so worried about having the cord left behind.
Since my right side simple orchiectomy I have noticed I’m getting an ache down my right leg and into my foot every time I get an erection, also when I walk long distance or stand for a long period. I had this ache before the operation, but not so much when I got an erection. I guess blood quickly travels to our gentiles and fills up all the veins when us men get aroused, or when we do something strenuous, but this seems to be giving me an ache down the right leg.
It feels like a blood flow problem, it feels like blood is still flowing down the right spermatic cord, but it has nowhere to go due to the testicle being removed, does that sound correct to you guys?
I can feel the cord in my scrotum and can feel it as it travels up into my pelvis, the cord is thick and hard, I guess it’s swollen with dried dead blood due to the cord being severed. I just wish they had removed the cord, why leave it there?
When I get a erection the blood must be traveling to my penis and testicles, but one testicle is missing, so I guess the blood still wants to travel down the right cord to the right testicle and is causing pressure on the spermatic nerves… Does that sound correct to you guys?
I’m hoping this gets better overtime when the cord softens, otherwise I will have to have another operation to get the cord removed. I can feel the stump and length of cord from my scrotum, why would they leave the cord behind?
