Hello everyone
I had my orchiedetomy 2 years ago which was successful and did not require any further treatment apart from a second surgery to remove an infected haematoma.
Approx 3 months after my initial surgery, I began to feel the dull ache in my remaining testicle, I had my first surveillance appt in November which was clear, AFP had risen slightly but nothing to worry about. I have had scans and shows no signs or tumour, just a cyst in the Epididymis (not sure of spelling).
I am still getting pain now, it can be crippling it has an impact on my day to day activity and sex life. I am currently prescibed co-codamol and Amitriptyline daily, 6 pills each per day and climbing. I am still in pain, levels vary each day, just wondering if this is common or if anyone else has similar?
Regards
Kevin
Hi Kevin
I'm sorry to hear how much pain you're currently in and, although I can't answer your question, I noticed that your post hadn't had any response yet. This could be because no one else has had this experience or, more likely, the person with the right experience hasn't seen your post yet.
I'm presuming that you've spoken to your CNS about the amount of pain you're in as I'm sure your team would want to get on top of it. If it's not easy to speak to them you could post your question in the Ask a Nurse section of the community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to respond within two working days.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Thank you for your response, Inhave updated my profile, I think I have covered my journey.
Inhave been keeping my CNS up tondate at each appt and in consultation with the pain clinic. At my last appt they said some about the nerves being over active, hence the Amitriptyline medication but they don't know why.
Thanks very much for taking the time to complete your profile Kevin as it really helps, especially new people looking for someone with a similar diagnosis.
That's good to hear that your CNS and pain clinic are trying to 'sort you out' and I hope they'll have the pain under control soon.
Best wishes
Hi Chip
I occassional have a slight pain at the scar of the haematoma but nothing from the orchiedetomy and even that is very little, its like a sharp pain then gone.
I know this sounds bad but as I have nothing to compare my remaining testicle to I am not totally sure, I something feel it is larger than normal?!?!
Hey Chip5
I also read that and did wonder but I am now two years on since my orchiedetomy, have not read that is lasts this long, but I may be wrong with that.
The last discussion was that the nerve endings which may or may not be damaged could be over active which is the reason for the Amitriptyline medication.
I would just like to go a day or so without pain or ache which is a constant reminder. Onwards and upwards
