Hello everyone, The start of my Cancer journey....January totally unaware that I had Stomach Cancer..probably like so many. - 83 yrs old this Year, feeling fine, perhaps sleeping more often during the day. Then a massive bleed, both ends, my life saved by wonderful Hospital care. My Tumour, is called 'Little Sod' and is inoperable and not subject to Chemo/Radio the choices were - do nothing or take a Target drug, Imatinib which was offered. I feel so lucky to have been offered this life line. The hope is to shrink the Tumour and give me more time - Years? How long is a piece of string? Fortunately, I have few side effects. 'Tail end Charlie' but tablets to stop that as and when it starts. Low Potassium levels, which is not as it should be so I am having tablets, different doses according to my weekly blood levels. Other than that I am carrying on, perhaps doing a little less that I did before but still feeling good. The care I am receiving from the MDT is outstanding. My wife did carry the load for everything until 2 weeks ago - and she is anxious and stressed. Me - well, I am sure I have Years ahead of me and would say to someone at the outset of treatment, the fear and worry lessens the more we speak and interact with others about our Cancer. In 2 Months I am due to have a Scan to see if the drug is working - fingers crossed.
Positive Mental Attitude, it is the only way forward.
likewise for me, one day no issues, next day could not eat, few days later diagnosed with stomach cancer.
nobody could tell me if Cancer was there 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years earlier.
Hope your treatment was as positive as mine
