I have been seen by a sarcoma service for a biopsy on a lesion in my thigh, they’ve said benign however I worry this has not hit the potential malignant area and my diagnosis is wrong.
Has anyone any experience of a false negative core needle biopsy or a sarcoma centre giving wrong diagnosis?
I have asked for this to be removed anyway hopefully in the next few weeks - however it has been there a year and I am also at risk of a ‘ooops’ procedure as they think it is benign.
thankyou
Hi SEM1
Sarcomas are quite rare and lumps very common and that is partially why care is centered in sarcoma centers. One outcome of a biopsy that people often overlook is "uncertain" but I have no idea what the statistics are. You could try asking in Ask a Nurse as they may have access to some figures that might be helpful.
