Hi. New here but not to the sarcoma world! First diagnosed in Dec 2020 wondering why I was getting bigger and bigger (knew I wasn’t pregnant!) Turned out the be an 18kg Retroperitoneal sarcoma. Operated in March at QEH. Biopsies discovered I also had thyroid cancer so another operation in May with radio iodine in August. All removed - yay!! Another in 2023 a lot smaller but knew how it was going to behave so surgically removed - success! 2025 another one - this one really affected my whole life and felt I was being stretched and would explode. Removal or debunking of 16kg tumour but bowel a little too close. Was told they could not remove it all and on the latest CT scan it had spread - more in the abdomen and pelvis. No more operations, next step chemo. Three weeks after been told this I was hooked up and having my first dose. Clinically fantastic and psychologically crap!!!! Trying to be brave and strong with elements of control. Had my beautiful hair cut off gradually - Final Cut yesterday. Woke this morning to a pillow covered in hair and have accepted this. Headwear all ordered and ready but just don’t know what to do at night. Do you let nature run its course? Or do you wear something to catch the hair? Feel my house is one giant hairball!?!!
Welcome to our community I hope you find it both informative and supportive.
When my wife first started chemotherapy and started to lose her hair she went to our local hairdresser and had everything shaved as she felt that put her in control. After the chemo when her hair started to come back at first if came out with a bit of a curl that she quite liked but then it reverted to being straight. The second type of chemotherapy she had did not really seem to affect her hair at all though.
<<hugs>>

Thank you for replying. Yesterday I had most of my hair shaved off but kept the top a little longer - just couldn’t go for the whole lot shaved. Think it would have distressed my hairdresser as she’s so young and lacking experience. She admitted I was her first chemo client. Perhaps I will have to ask one of brothers to do it?!?
